Blueberry Greens Smoothie

What you need:

2 cups water
1 cup spinach
1 1/2 cups frozen or fresh blueberries
1 frozen banana
1 tablespoon EFA oil
2 tablespoons agave nectar

What you do:

1. Put all ingredients into blender.
2. Blend it for about 1 minute or until the spinach is totally obliterated.
If you didn't use frozen fruit this smoothie will not be as thick. You can always add some ice to it if you like it chilled.
My 4 year old son loves this smoothie. It's an easy way to get raw greens into his diet. You do not taste the greens so don't be put off by the combo! Drinking this smoothie makes me feel great. I love it in the morning or even for dinner.

SO HOW'D IT GO?

Delicious smoothie! I used collard greens, instead of spinach, and Udo's Oil for the Essentially Fatty Acids(EFA). You can't taste either. The blueberries and banana are the flavors that stand out. Thank you for the great recipe.

this smoothie was wonderful! my twin girls LOVED it.  :)>>> however, when i was at the grocery store, i couldnt find agave nectar? have no idea what section that is in. anyway, i threw in a couple organic strawberries instead... i never would have thought to sneak spinach in, thanks for the recipe! now i think i'll always add a green to my smoothies ;)b

Agave nectar is a natural liquid sweetener.  Regular agave has a light, mild flavor.  There's also a dark agave with a stronger flavor, as well as flavored agave.  Here's some info:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agave.  Generally, you find agave at health food stores, unless you have an awesome grocery with a large natural foods section.  Trader Joe's also carries agave in their baking section.

This was just ridiculously good. Instead of water I used light soy milk and just one cup instead of two. So yummy! This is my new favourite breakfast smoothie!

Delicious! I used flaxseed meal instead of EFA oil, and my banana wasn't frozen so it turned out pretty liquidy, but I'm still impressed!

This smoothie is amazing!!  I substitute flax seeds for the oil.

I made this recipe this morning.  I used kale and since I didn't have EFA oil, I used olive oil.  It's very good and made two big servings.  I think this will become a regular breakfast choice for me.

Thank you so much!!!!!! I can't believe I couldn't figure that out! I'm 4 days into raw foodism (from 4 years vegan) and I have so many questions still. My vitamix should arrive tomorrow!!!!  :)

Essential Fatty Acids-- either Omega 3's or Omega 6's. I would think they mean flax oil, or something else with Omega 3 in it; just to give the smoothie a health boost. You can leave it out if you don't have it, or you can throw some milled flax seed in with the other stuff. (For both added protein AND Omega 3's.) This STILL looks good, and I STILL haven't been home long enough to use my blender... sadness...
