New from Holland (American in Holland)

I'm new on this site, new to being a vegan, and otherwise happy to be here with like-minded individuals. Being a vegan in Holland could be likened to being a virgin in a whorehouse :P

I'm from the southeast USA originally and planning to move back later this year for my job to San Antonio, Texas. I can't wait to introduce myself to people - "Hi, I'm a liberal Democrat vegan, this is my European Socialist husband, and our two kids." :-D All kidding aside, I know there are great people everywhere and we're looking forward to the yummy Tex-Mex food & warmer weather!

I was a vegetarian from age 14 until I was 30 and then got Celiac disease (inability to digest gluten) which led my doctor to tell me that I should eat meat. DUH! I should have never listened!! Anyway, years later and health declining, I came across Eat to Live last year and then Skinny B which has led me to a vegan path :)>>>.

Looking forward to meeting people, getting some yummy recipes, and otherwise hanging out :flower2:

It is a little difficult being veggie in Texas (Am in Houston) but getting easier.

Thanks to you both! It's not easy here in Holland, but I've finally had that light bulb moment where I realized that being vegan isn't about food choices. It's about ethical responsibility. Glad to hear it is getting easier in Texas, though :)

Welcome! There are several vegwebbers from Texas...someone is even from San Antonio, but I can't remember who. Vegweb is awesome and a great resource.

Thanks for the welcomes Laura & Lotus42. I've already bookmarked VegWeb in my faves and I start to miss it when I'm not online after a few days. It really helps to know that other people share my views when I'm currently in a country where people think I'm odd. Not that there's anything wrong with odd :P
