Hi All :) New to this site & Lifestyle
Hi All,
My name is Bea, I live in Maine,USA. I am new to this site as well as a new vegetarian. I have wanted to be since I was little but the FDA had me scared out of my wits to even try. I have gone through a couple of spiritual and personal changes in the last couple of years that have given me confidence to try to be vegetarian and possibly vegan, although to start out I will be eating eggs and dairy on occasion. I have never been a milk drinker and never cared for the taste of eggs,so until I learn to cook w/o them I will still use them in cooking. Cheese, is another story. I am married to a supportive fellow who will still be eating meat although has consented to eat whatever I put in front of him and will save his "meaty" meals for when he is either out of the house or I am out of the house. We are in debate about our son although he naturally doesn't care for meat and DH is satisfied as long as long as our son is the one making his own decisions about whether he is going to eat meat or not. Neither my husband or I want to eat processed foods as much as we have been so, I think I will be using this site a lot. I appreciate in advance all the help and advice I can get from experienced Vegetarians.
welcome!! i'm glad you decided to make the switch, you won't regret it!!
Hi & welcome!
VW is an awesome resource for new veg-heads... I think you'll be surprised how easy it is to enjoy yummy veg food, once you get in the habit of cooking/ shopping that way. My favorite recipes from VW, when I was first exploring veg cooking: kale chips, yummy lentils and spinach, chocolate peanutbutter pie, any kind of cashew/ nut cheez, Dragonfly's bulk dry uncheez mix (and EVERY kind of sauce & casserole you can make from it!), and pretty much all the tofu scrambles and nutritional yeast sauces found on this site!
Have fun exploring-- there's a ton of delicious things most non-veggies don't usually ever think to try out... in addition to these recipes, be sure to try tempeh, seitan, and quinoa... shout for help as needed, & have fun with it!
Glad you're here.
:)
Thanks! I am looking forward to getting serious and getting healthy with my diet and my family's diet.
