The Rock-Your-Body Fitness Thread

We talk about health and exercise in a lot of different threads.  It's time for a one-stop shop.

As you all have read ad nauseam, I have a super slow metabolism so I'm always looking for ways to increase my fitness.

I'm going to join a gym next Wednesday (most likely).  Is it true that I should leave a day between working muscle groups?  I'll likely only be at the gym on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so I'm not sure what the best excercises are if I'm only going to be working that area once.  Like, Wednesday for legs or front and Thursdays for arms or back.  Something like that?  I'll have about an hour between work and when yoga starts and the gym will be relatively empty, so I'll have plenty of time and access to equipment.

----------

I recently read that dehydration leads to a drop on body temperature and a drop in temp triggers a body to store fat.  Of all the dagnabbit, underhanded, flea-analogue bitten things!  My normal temp is in the 97.1 - 97.3 F (36.2 - 36.3 C) range.

My status today:

It's also really easy to motivate myself to get going.

not this

Motivation. I lack thee!

this

But once I start I'll be fine.

SO. Here I am.

My dear KMK always motivates me! I'm working on getting back into good shape, not just bike shape. I'm going slowly, but surely!

Sunday: Shred 3
Monday: Hike up steep trail, run down road, walk through field, run around block and home
Tuesday: Walk to U, run MOST way around, walk most way back + shred 1
Wednesday: Walk to U, run around, walk back + extra stretching
Thursday: Rest
Friday: Walk to U, run all way around the uphill way, run 1 block back, walk

I'm making my way up to running around the school and running back. I think I like the walk there. It shouldn't take me long to get there, but I get zapped by heat!

So I had Gymanastics the other day, it was intense! I did a lot of core training and strength training. Today I had a beautiful 3.5 mile run. Did I ever mention how much I hate running? But today it was fantastic for some reason, I felt good, usually I feel drained after the first mile and want to quit, but not today....yay! I should make a plan like KMK, but ugh I don't know exactly what to do yet. Maybe next week!  ;)

Yay for a good run!

I did my planned 20 minutes on the elliptical yesterday.  My side didn't hurt at all and I was able to breath in full breaths.  I declare myself healed.  Plus, I was naturally faster than before, so win for me.  Next week I'll start with upper body again.

My legs were stronger this week than when I do elliptical every day, so I'm going to cut back and do it every other day.

Monday - kayaking muscles
Tuesday - elliptical
Wednesday - kayaking muscles
Thursday - elliptical

Thats great HH, Glad your healed. Oh by the way, I am so jealous of your kayaking. I have been wanting to try it for like two years, and well...yah haven't done it yet. Maybe next summer.

And I'm back from my sea voyages! ;)b Exercising in seas is quite interesting... if not 'bruis-tastic'! :-\ I am overall impressed with how much I was able to do and maintain healthy eating patterns.

Everyone is inspiring!! ;)b

But it is a new day/week coming up so I'll be extremely busy and (hopefully) loving every minute of my exercise regimen.

Welcome back to solid ground, llg!

You'll like kayaking, cor.  It's so much fun to skim over the water.

I wanted to take a nap today, but chose a walk because of all of you industrious people.  Four and a half miles later I didn't feel any more energized.  But it's done and it counts.

Weird!

I worked yesterday, so my week ended up looking like this:

Sunday
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday

Pretty awesome, but I didn't reach my goal of 6 days for that week, so I'm going to hold out on rewarding myself with the makeup.

Plans, people!  What's your plan for the week?

Monday: Gym at 5pm - 60 min cardio, arms, abs
Tuesday: Spinning at 6:30pm, back, abs
Wednesday: Gym at 5pm - 60 min cardio, arms, abs
Thursday: Spinning at 6:30pm, back, abs
Friday: Run, pilates
Weekend: any one workout

I'd like to add pilates to my morning routine.  My goal is to try that one day this week.
Also, my OTHER goal is to go to bed by 10:30 every night.

Go go go!

Ok KMK, here goes, my first plan...thanks to ur impressive example!

Sunday- 3 mile run
Monday- Chest, abs and Triceps,
Tuesday- 45 minute sprint intervals on treadmill
Wednesday- legs
Thursday-3 mile run, back, biceps, and abs
Friday- Gymnastics for an hour
Saturday- 3 mile run, abs

Not as ambitious as everyone else, but I am mostly concentrating on running. I suck right now, so I just want to get to a good comfortable point with it. So every other day. Everything else is just gravy! Good luck to everyone this week! ;)b

 Monday - kayaking muscles
 Tuesday - elliptical
Wednesday - kayaking muscles + yoga
 Thursday - elliptical + yoga

I forgot my mp3 today, so I alternated 90 seconds at 140 strides per minute and 30 seconds at 180 strides per minute.  Dreading the end of each 90 second cycle worked to help pass the time.

At some point I should start doing something for my abdomen area, but I'm not sure what machines work that area.  I have two hours between when I get off of work and when yoga starts.  That means that I have at least a full hour on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  I'd like to add body parts to the workout.

I did not get to work out monday simply because LB was off of work and we both felt hung over from the weekend without actually being sick.  Just exhausted.

Today I did stretching, arms and 8 miles.  Was good but Im still fatigued.
