We talk about health and exercise in a lot of different threads.  It's time for a one-stop shop.

As you all have read ad nauseam, I have a super slow metabolism so I'm always looking for ways to increase my fitness.

I'm going to join a gym next Wednesday (most likely).  Is it true that I should leave a day between working muscle groups?  I'll likely only be at the gym on Wednesdays and Thursdays, so I'm not sure what the best excercises are if I'm only going to be working that area once.  Like, Wednesday for legs or front and Thursdays for arms or back.  Something like that?  I'll have about an hour between work and when yoga starts and the gym will be relatively empty, so I'll have plenty of time and access to equipment.

I recently read that dehydration leads to a drop on body temperature and a drop in temp triggers a body to store fat.  Of all the dagnabbit, underhanded, flea-analogue bitten things!  My normal temp is in the 97.1 - 97.3 F (36.2 - 36.3 C) range.

I did 46 minutes on the eliptical again along with my regular morning 10 minute wake-up routine.  Later before I go to bed I'll do some ab work and the 10 minute stretching program because I'm trying to improve on how inflexible I am.

Do you do 40+ minutes on the ellipitcal regularly?  I did 40 minutes today for the first time at 70-100% bars (whatever they are) at 130-135 cycles? per minute and I had soaked both sides of my shirt by the time I was done.  You qualify for badass status.

Yes, I try to do it everyday..and every other week I add a few more minutes.  I want to be able to do an hour.

I have yet to figure out the eliptical. It always seems like there is someone on it when I go to the gym. :(

I did 30 mins of core workouts yesterday to some sparkpeople videos.  :D

I may take the day off today, though. I've had really bad insomnia for the last month and I feel like it is really catching up to me. I think maybe a really good nights sleep will be better for me than pushing myself to workout. I can barely keep my eyes open today, even with twice my normal amount of green tea.
and I was doing so well with working out, oh well :(

I think if you're super tired it affects your form.  If you have bad form, you're better off getting rest.  Being well rested is my top fitness priority.

Crap!!  WHy in the hell did I just wolf down a BUNCH of cookies?! :-[ At least my calories didn't exceed what I burned in my workouts. :-\ Does anyone else sabotage themselves this way??  If I cared to check; I bet my hormones are to blame! >:(

My co-worker just got a recumbant bike and was saying yesterday was hell on his quads biking home uphill.  He mentioned that he ate more carbs and protein than normal to help rebuild his muscle and how glucose from carbs becomes glycogen which is stored in muscles.  He talked about what that does and the chemical reactions, but he has a master's in chemistry so he talks at a higher level.  Anyway, you've been working out hard as of late.  Maybe your muscles wanted extra carbs.

Yeah... I think that is what it was.  I've been slacking on my carb intake lately, but no more!!  I am making sure to get a good variety of foods before I have a binge episode again.  Too bad I just didn't reach for some brown rice and beans though. :-/ Plus, I think with adjusting my workout times on run and P90X days it gives me more time to recover inbetween.  Think 5hrs VS 9hrs!!

I did 4 miles this morning!!  I'm in the process of getting more people to committ to running with me.... because, hey!  It is better for them and much more fun if I've got a partner to pass the time with!!

P90X is set for a little later this afternoon!

I use to be extremely obese (232 at 5'9).
I joined weight watched 3 years ago, and I lost 60lbs in a year.
I kept that off for a year and a half, but lately my eating habits have been SUPER out of wack and I've just been in a terrible eating mood.
Anyways, I gained 10lbs, so now I'm at 180.
I rejoined WW a week ago.

I got a tan for the first time ever.
I am generally very very very white; however, this summer, I'm a bit tanned.
(I don't like it, oddly enough).
I have the oddest tanlines right now, too.

I get exercise daily.
I ride my bike to/from work and/or drivers ed, and since we live in the mountains, it's hill upon hill.
It's hard for me, because I'm out of shape and it's an old, manual bike and doesn't change speed, so I walk up most of the hills.
I go swimming at the pond 2-3 times a day, and I walk 2-3 times a week.
If I wasn't working/needing to get to drivers education, I probably wouldn't be getting this much exercise, but it's nice.

My goal weight has always been 160 (maybe 155). I never reached that, but I will.
I want to be happy with myself, about all.

I went to the gym before work today :) (that's a smug face by the way)

I did 15mins on the treadclimber
then 3 sets of 10 of each: 15kg shoulder press, 15kg chest press, 10kg pectorals, 20kg lateral pull down thingy, 20kg low row
then 2 sets of: 20 crunches, 10 full sits ups with 5kg weight, 20 russian twists with 5kg weight, 10 double crunches with 5kg weight
5mins on rower resistance on level 10

then I ran out of time, other wise I would've done more.

Yesterday I did my 12 miles on the bike.  Today I did my 12, 20 and 11 miles.

I am really trying to eat healthy but today I splurged and had half an order of General Tso's Bean Curd with white rice and 1 spring roll.  Though I did eat salad for dinner!  I figure that I ate my most calories at lunch so it should all even out over the day. *crosses fingers*

You are all so rock solid.  Hopefully building leg muscles will help build support around your knee, cali.

I skipped the gym today because I had cramps.  I'll soak a shirt front and back with sweat and have a red face and my hair can be plastered to my head, but I draw the line at puking on equipment.

I am going on a boat for 2wks, but I plan to workout everyday while underway with resistance bands!!  ^-^

Gym last night was good, but not note-worthy.
Other than the awesomeness of Thursday night gym over Monday night gym. There were seriously only 6-8 people there the whole time we were there.  Awesome.

I thought about you on Monday.  There were about a dozen and a half people at the gym.  Up from about a dozen on a non-Monday.

The nice part of me wants it to be busy all the time, because there are some people who are members of our gym who could reeeeaaaallly do with a workout.
But the mean part of me tends to just think 'he he he more space for me'... and gets on with it.

I went to the gym and only had about 35 minutes before yoga started, so I worked my arms, then went to yoga, and then did 20 minutes on the elliptical.  I would have done more arms, because I didn't get many shoulder exercises in, but it was 8p when I left and I had to make it to three places by 9p.

I *gained* five pounds during the past month.  I'm kind of whatever, because my goal is to kayak, not be thin (luckily) - but it would be nice to not gain five pounds in a month.  pfft.

Most likely it is muscle.  Doing the P90X program; I've only lost 2lbs in like 40 days. :-/ But I have lost a total of 4" on parts that I want to be shrinking! :-)  Try measuring yourself instead.... or go by your 'skinny jeans' and how the rest of your clothes fit.

You're fit to begin with, so 4" is amazing.  I read an article by a personal trainer who said that the stars he trains are all heavier than they look, because of muscle.

I'm hoping, realistically, that it breaks down into 2 pounds of menstrual cycle temporary weight, 1 pound of muscle, and 2 pounds of fat.  I can handle addressing two pounds.  I ate refined sugar.  My total caloric intake was about the same, but refined sugar goes straight to weight gain with me.  And not eating it goes straight to weight loss.  So, fingers crossed (except for that I'm scheduled to eat refined carbs for the next two weekends).

Oh, and my co-worker and I both have meetings scheduled for times that conflict with his showing me the best kayak muscle building gym equipment.  We're both changing units, so hopefully he will still be able to do lunch with me at the gym later on.

HH I find that I tend to gain wieght with refined foods as well. I'm trying to stick to a at least 75% whole foods diet, and I'm trying to eat mostly homemade food. It seems to be working so far as I see my waist begin to tuck in a bit. I wish my thighs would shed some fat, that seems to be where all of my fat goes :(

So I dragged my lazy butt to the gym last night (and the pool for a bit, where I did a few laps, but mostly cooled off). I did about 20 mins of upper body, and I finally got to use the eliptical! I only went on it for 20 mins, but I was sweating like crazy when I was done. I felt a little proud to have soaked through my shirt :)  I feel like I got a real workout last night and was pleasently tired afterwards. Yay eliptical!!!
