Stressed out over family visit!!!!
Super late notice, but I just realized how stressed I am. My parents are coming, and I need to have some meals to make. My mom will eat anything but my dad is an asshole and always criticizes everything. I cant even think what to make that he will eat. He only eats animal foods-no joke.
I can't make mock anything.
Friday LUnch: apple a day wraps (bought from store for mom and me) and subway for my dad
Dinner: chinese? although today i stopped in to ask if chicken stock was used in the sauce and they couldnt understand me so I dont know...dad will not eat a stir fry that i make, i dont think.
Saturday" breakfast-coffee cake and fruit
LUnch-farmers market and school carnival
dinner: pizza at local shop with daiiya
Sunday brunch: waffles and fruit-trying to combine 2 meals into one!
will need an afternoon snack ??????????

I don't invite my parents to stay with me for this reason. I'm sorry you've chosen to deal with this bullshit.
My suggestions to lighten your load:
First night's dinner: NINE MILE! (and get the tahini dressing on your salad)
afternoon snack: Pita & hummus with mixed olives? Fruit salad? Who doesn't like those? Apples & PB, celery & pb, etc.
Dinner: Make something amazing and tell him to fuck off. Lasagna always rocks, with some garlic bread, green beans. Apple pie for dessert!!
Will he eat spaghetti with a marina or primavera sauce? Most people like spaghetti. You can make garlic bread and a salad.
Remember, you're a grown woman and it's your house and your life, so don't give him too much power over your emotions no matter how critical he is..know that you'll never please him.

Anyway, L2A is your dad just against everything to be against it, or does he actually like pasta? Something with roasted vegetables? How can a person not like roasted potatoes.
Just give Dad a map and a phone book and/or maybe y'all can drive around town and find a place or places he could go eat when he wants what he wants and so do you.

I love this idea. Or just have a few microwavable things in the freezer and tell him he is free to heat them himself if he does not want what you cook.
Your home, your rules. Period. End of discussion. Tell him flat out that you are an adult and expect to be treated with respect in your own home. I have looked at my MIL and told her she was free to not eat what I cook but she can at least have good manners about it or leave the table. I had gotten tired of her criticizing things I made that she was not familiar with. One time I gave her some soup I loved and she told me it was so bad that even her dog would not eat it! No more food given to her.
One thing I have realized is that this is just the way she is. I am not going to change her but I can change how I react to her. Honestly, you are giving him too much energy. Enjoy the rest of the family, laugh (if only to yourself) about him trying to spoil your fun. After all, he does need to go on a diet, right? And you are only trying to help him eat less >:D

and yep, I'm making spaghetti on sunday. i love the garlic bread and salad idea. bread will fill his fat ass up!

Yep, you know I hate potty mouths outside of DND. However, SB is an absolute hopeless case, totally beyond redemption in anyway shape or form, so I just surrender and stoop down to his level when talking to him. If I didn't love him like a stepchild I'd be more righteous about it. But I draw the line at him corrupting others like Amy!

From what I've seen on the Web, it's like carrot "pasta." You peel it thinly with a potato peeler and add your sauce.

OMG base. My freaking dad bitched the entire time at 9 mile and hated the menu!! He got plain salmon and rice hold ALL the veggies!!! This, after much deliberation. And thanked me not for his club sub I had waiting for him from the store for lunch.

i find it so bizarre how ridiculously picky people are and about not eating vegan food... i don't put up with that... u eat what i cook or peace out and buy your own food... i eat good food so get over yourself... good luck!
