Quick and Easy Tofu Fries
1 package regular firm tofu
1 teaspoon vegan margarine or equivalent
seasonings of your choice
This recipe is totally easy, quick, and deliciously filling.
1. Heat up a frying pan, adding the vegan margarine to cover the bottom. Slice the entire block of tofu into 1/2 inch (around) thick squares. Slice these squares again into 3 or 4 fry-shaped strips.
2. Season the strips how you wish. I found a 'poultry seasoning' in my cupboard (thyme, sage, rosemary, marjoram, black pepper, and nutmeg) in which I am particular to, but you could use a chili powder or something to make spicy fries. Anything you want would be great! Within reason, of course :)
3. Place the strips on the pan. Fry on each side until they become golden brown and crispy.
4. Enjoy! Try adding some salt. They go great with a ketchup or mustard, and they make a healthier option than frozen preservative-filled fries. Lots of protein, too!
SO HOW'D IT GO?
Made these once again, in search of an easy recipe. Wasnt very careful though and they fell apart kind of in the thawing/getting impatient/cutting/squeezing/getting more impatient/squeezing to the point of killing the fry shaped pieces. But still very good ;)b I'm just not sure if i'm a huge fan of using a butter like subsitute, next time i'm going to use oil.
Would it be possible to bake these and get the same tasty sounding results? I'm not partial to frying my food.
Maybe you could use a egg or ener-g eggs to coat them first and then put on the seasoning? chuck it in the oven and give it a go. ???
This wasn' t bad because I was trying to make something super simple and fast but I personally thought it was too salty if you guys are going to use any kind of seasoning please stay away from "chicken salt" I had to drown mine in bbq sauce. But the husband said it was fine the way it is? Maybe im just a picky eater. >:D

Pretty good, mainly for when your hungry and not in a real cooking mood. I used earth balance to cook them in (more than recommended), and poultry seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic powder to season them.
