Chocolate Peanutbutter Pie

What you need: 

1 pound firm tofu
1/2 to 2/3 cup vegan chocolate chips, melted
1/2 to 2/3 cup peanut butter
1/2-1 cup nondairy milk (I use soy)
1 baked vegan graham cracker crust

What you do: 

1. Put tofu in a blender with the melted chocolate chips and the peanut butter with 1/2 cup milk to start. Blend the ingredients together until very smooth, this may take a while if your blender is not super high powered.
2. Taste the mixture and see what else it needs. Add more chocolate and peanut butter to your liking. It may be necessary to add a little more milk if you are having trouble blending the yummy mixture.
3. Put the mixture into a baked pie crust and smooth out the pie surface. You can make fancy designs in the surface if you want.
4. Place the pie into the refrigerator for about 1 hour until it is firm to the touch. Cut and serve to the chocolate and peanut butter fans in your life.
Yum yum! This pie is so wicked! Make it for all your vegan friends!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

YUMMMM! This is totally going into my 'holiday dessert' recipe queue... really just awfully deliciously good! Def'ly recommend a graham cracker crust-- that worked with it really well... I was working with a limited pantry- we're at that point, again, in the pay cycle!- so had to use 8 oz soft Mori-Nu tofu, & the rest extra-firm Mori-Nu... so, it turned out (predictably) pretty soft; kinda like a combo between soft pie filling & a cheesecake kind of texture. Slice-able, but barely... &  the three people at my house ate it up in about two days! It was very good, & I'll definitely make it again-- with firm tofu, next time. But even a little on the softer side, I'd make it again & again... Great recipe!

I was so worried about my pie....however....the next day (Thanksgiving), it was INCREDIBLE!

It set perfectly, the texture was light and fluffy! I cut a piece for my father, topped with bannana slices, and drizzled melted ganache (more choco chips & soymilk)...he loved it! And he hates tofu, it creeps him out.

This is a win-win desert for anybody to try! Also versatile, you could fold in nuts or different fruits for the season. I do recommend using the Mori-Nu extra firm and crunchy peanut butter...it adds a nice little crunch.

My version of this pie is setting..and I am quite worried about it!
Stupidly I didn't read through all the comments before proceeding and did not think to adjust chocolate chips. I used maybe a cup of p.b., 1/2 c. chocolate chips, and 1 box of Mori-Nu extra firm, w/ soymilk as needed. It was fluffy and tasted alright but probably should be sweeter. What bothered me testing it though was how grainy/beany it is even after whipping it w/ beaters...aaahh! Hope it turns out better than I expected!

dammmmnnnn this was a bitch to make! wow. first of all using the blender was a mistake. too thick to actually blend any consistency. i had to give up on the blender and used a bowl and hand mixer to beat it into submission, so double the mess

didnt even use as much tofu and had to use over double the choc chips and pb, even after which it still tasted like tofu, had to start improvising, added banana, vanilla bean paste, stevia, it STILL tasted like tofu ass, squirted some hersheys fudge stuff in it, used the one reese peanut butter cup, finally got an OK taste, definitely not worth the effort and the mess, speaking of which my mom is yelling in the kitchen, and I really need a shower.
but that was just my experience.

I think what went wrong was a) using blender b) it obv requires a very specific kind of tofu, and def not firm. c) the chocolate and peanut butter ratio is so very off. its a good concept but needs improvement.

This pie is incredible. I added a splash of vanilla. So awesome!

:'( I'm sorry but I made this last night and it tasted not quite right. Just not good.  I don't know why.  My boyfriend and I were very disappointed.

I just finished making this DELICIOUS pies and i must say not only is it super simple but delicious and so worth trying wether vegan or not! who said a vegan lifestyle was boring and dull?!?!?!

I used peanut butter chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips - almost double what the recipe called for - and still didn't have enough to fill up the pie shell, so I had to mix up even more of the pie filling.  I would recommend exceeding the amounts in the recipe by quite a bit.  I also added a little vanilla extract, arrowroot powder to thicken, and a tablespoon of cocoa powder, which really upped the chocolate factor and made the filling taste almost fudgy.  I will definitely make this again!

is this recipe sweet enough without any sugar/syrup in it?

yeah, you get the sweetness from the melted chocolate chips so no additional sugar is necessary.  i would increase the amount of chips you use though like other reviewers suggested to at least a cup.  you can always taste test it and melt more chips to add if it's not sweet enough for you.
