Chocolate Chip Cookies

What you need:

1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup canola oil
1/4 cup & 2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup & 2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 banana, mashed
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup vegan chocolate chips or carob chips

What you do:

Source of recipe: This is my veganized version of Tollhouse cookies.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mix together flour, soda and salt and set aside. In large bowl cream together oil, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla. Mix in mashed banana and baking powder. Add flour mixture, and stir well. Add chips. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto cookie sheet*.
Bake 9-11 minutes.
*Use banana and baking powder or other equivalent to 1 Egg (banana and baking powder is what I use... it works really well, actually).
*The original recipe said to use an ungreased cookie sheet, but I like my cooking spray too much. So I always spray everything before baking in it... I don't think it really makes a difference.

I followed the recipe exactly, and these are sooooo good! I've made them twice in one week. Everyone loves them :)

allychristine's picture sold me on this recipe!  and if a picture is worth a thousand words, than a bite is worth a million!  did the 1/4 coco thing, for the extra sweetener i put in some stevia powder, and used applesauce. Perfection! YUM!

Last time I made these I could figure out why they spread so much, after making a double batch for my work (I got a request!) I realized I forgot the baking soda! ;D But either way it worked out just fine and everyone loves them and can't believe they are vegan  ;)b

I used EnerG instead of banana cuz I don't like them an no brown sugar because I didn't have any! I made half a batch and they were deliciousssssss :)

These were great!  I made them for a Christmas party and put in vegan peppermint chips.  They were so good my daughter is leaving them for Santa!  I might just get the car I want for Christmas!  lol

I added 1/4 cup cocoa powder this time (as Vegansapien did), and did 1 Ener-g egg instead of banana (what I didn't like about these originally), but mine came out too crumbly. I also did part EB, part oil...so I guess my proportions were off! These were part disastrous, part delicious.

These are perfect! If I had baked them 2 more minutes, I'm sure they'd have had a nice crunch, as the only browner cookie in my batch did. I will make these again and again.
I can definitely second the comments on the 'Tollhouse' taste, as I've only been vegan a year and remember full-well the taste of the dough. Sooo good! I was surprised at the result, actually, as I was expecting these would be a bit flatter. Nope!

My cookies turned out extremely greasy and flat.  Minus the greasy fingers, the banana and carob flavor is wonderful.  Greasy or not, someone in my house will finish them off!

Mmm, this is  my first plain chocochip vegan cookie, but mmmm.  I used  1/2 c of wheat flour in there, attempt to make it marginally healthier, lol.  I also did the 1/4 oil 1/4 soy milk.  I threw in some agave nectar into my sugar/brown sugar mix and added a tiny bit of cocoa powder.  I also used Ener-G
I'm glad I flattened them a little, because they didn't flatten out and where a bit...bready.  Probably my fault with the wheat flour.  They were still delicious though!  They still tasted like cookies :)  Definitely helped satisfy my craving.
