Broiled Tofu

What you need: 

1/2 pound tofu, 1/4 to 1/2" cubes
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons soy sauce

What you do: 

1. Preheat broiler. Place the tofu in a broiling pan with oil and soy sauce and mix it up so that the tofu is well covered.
2. Broil the tofu until brown, or even crispy, 5 to 15 minutes, turning it every few minutes.
Try these variations: Add spices and herbs as you like, different oils and sauces. Tastes great with a little sesame oil thrown in. Try cutting the tofu into thin slices instead of cubes and broil until crispy.

This was really good! I didn't even press or marinate the tofu; I just sprayed it with some olive oil lightly and sprinkled adobo seasoning on it. Delicious!


This was really good and gives me some great ideas for variations to try in the future. I added in a bit of ground garlic and it was yum! The tofu went well served with coconut rice.


wow, this was way easy, i am shocked that i didn't screw it up!  very good for sandwiches!


This was the first time I have ever cooked tofu in the oven. I cut the tofu very thin and added chopped garlic to the tofu during the last 5 minutes of broiling. Very delicious. Had me singing TLT - dynamite! and thinking about making a TLT sandwhich.

Crispy and delicious- and so simple!!


Tofu always tastes better to me when it has a crispy outside and softer chewy inside.  This recipe did just that.  I used T.J. extra firm tofu, pressed for 20 min, and then marinated in Braggs, olive oil, brown rice vinegar, and some Ginger-Tamari salad dressing (basically whatever I could grab to throw in there!)  At the end I sprinkled on some toasted sesame seeds.  I think I broiled a little too long as I cut the tofu very thin...  Still tasted yummy though!


I was pleasantly surprised with this recipe. I never would have thought to broil it. I used a 14 oz container of extra firm tofu & pressed it for 10 min. Then I sliced it into 6 thin slices and laid them in a single row in a 9x13 Pyrex pan. I marinated it for 10 min in 3 Tbsp oil & 5 Tbsp soy sauce. While it was marinating, I thinly sliced garlic and put it on top. The texture was great - better than baking in my opinion!
