You are here

VegWeb is the best BUT....

...what other websites do you use to find recipes?  ;)

Some of my favs are:
www.fatfreevegan.com
http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/  Vegan Lunchbox, of course, I'm dying for her next book! :)
http://isachandra.livejournal.com/   PostPunkKitchen :)

Everyone try to list a new one so that we have a nifty resource! :)

You've already covered my favourite sites!!  But I also check out these ones some times:

http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/Y/yawye/recipes.html (not completely veggie)

http://www.living-foods.com/recipes/ (raw recipes)

I also use Fatfreevegan.com. But believe it or not, I use Allrecipes.com a lot. I know it's not vegan (eventhough a few vegan recipes do pop up), but if I see a recipe I like, I veganize it. Unless I'm cooking for my flesh eating boyfriend. They do have a good collection of recipes on there.

I don't have any sites to add, but I wanted to say thanks to all of you for sharing. Some of these look great & are definitely getting added to my favorites. YUMMM!  ;)

www.epicurious.com

This website, which includes recipes from gourmet magazines, has an Advanced Search option that allows you to exclude dairy and eggs(separate boxes you check off) in your recipe search. Some recipe reviewers, although few, post ways to make some dishes dairy-free.

Still, it's not nearly as great as VegWeb.

I agree with you Saskia. Vegweb has to be the best one I found. Go VEGWEB!!!!!!!!!  ;D

I love foodtv.com

There is a lot of meat on it but I don't mind weeding through those to get to the ones I love. I use recipes more as inspiration any ways.

Yeah, I like Everyday Italian...very veg-compatible and everything looks soo good! Giada really likes to add a lot of fresh herbs to everything and that's appealing ;) They really should have a vegetarian/vegan show on the Food Network by now though! LoL, but I guess that would be a slap in the face to all the heavily meat-laden shows like Emeril, Rachael Ray, Iron Chef, etc ;D

Wild Oats Marketplace's Vegan Blueberry Muffins, in the fresh baked section of the store, is one of the best muffins I've ever had. Rich, moist with plump blueberries topped with sweet stresel. I had to track down the recipe. In the process, I found, in addition to the recipe, a whole Vegan section of recipes on their website, under Recipes, Special Diets. Here it is.

http://www.wildoats.com/u/recipe71/

Their blueberry muffins are listed under Desserts, Vegan Muffins. Here's the link.

http://www.wildoats.com/u/recipedetail10074/

Note: While the Vegan Muffins recipe here lists honey, in addition to agave and pure maple syrup, as among the unrefined sweeteners you could use, its store sold muffin does not list honey as a sweetener in its ingredients list.

If no one has mentioned it, Whole Foods is also a good place.  www.wholefoodsmarket.com.  They have vegan recipes and I just veganize what I like that is vegetarian.

www.ellenskitchen.com --that is where Bryanna got her cutlet recipe from

www.vegkitchen.com -- nava atlas' website

www.vegsource.com

www.cooksillustrated.com -- not veg but lots of good ideas

food and wine magazine also has a good collection of recipes, many of which are veg or can easily be made so

I also like the CDC's Five-A-Day website because it has a vegetable/fruit of the month (not nearly as good as Vigilant20's thread on here):
http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnparecipe/recipesearch.aspx

I also end up hitting the British VegBox website whenever I'm looking for recipes for obscure veggies. They were started so people would know what to do with the veggies (pics to help identify) that showed up in their CSA-type bins each month:
http://vegbox-recipes.co.uk/recipes/recipes-index.php

Finally, the Indian store I shop at has lots of Raja Food items, so one day I checked out their website. They have the coolest tool where you plug in the ingredients that you have on hand, and voila! It produces a recipe for dinner:

EDIT: I just checked Raja Foods and their website changed, the recipes aren't there yet :( Meanwhile the Jeeves search turned up lots of tasty Indian blogs!

My TV is pretty much always tuned to the food network if it's on.
I agree, it's a great source of inspiration, and it's a good exercise to try to think of ways to veganize things.
I love Alton Brown's Good Eats!  It's all about the science behind cooking, which is always useful.

The only show that's quite possibly beyond hope of veganization is Paula Deen's Home Cooking...but that's another thread.....

Hot Knives. ... Great website. Creative cooking. Awesome photos. Lively writing.

"We live in Los Angeles. We don’t cook with meat. And we like sharpening our knives about as much as we like: bicycling, performing harsh noise music, gardening, slugging whiskey, and muckraking. We believe in cheap groceries, cooking with high alcohol content beer and free leisure. We hate weak sauces."

Recent postings including Beer Apples, Figgy Pudding & Grilled Fruits are vegan. Click on date and scroll to bottom to see photo and recipe.
