Octoberfest

My office is having an octoberfest. Most of the food will be very non vegan, like Bratwurst & potato salad with bacon in it. What can I bring that will be filling enough for a lunch for me, yet pleasing as a side dish to a bunch of carnivores?

Are peirogies German? I would love to bring them but I feel like they are Polish. I guess it doesn't relaly matter too much

If I have time I'm going to make german choc cake too!!!

definitely do the german chocolate cake. (cupcakes perhaps?)

for my german class in high school, we had to do culture projects, and for one of them i did cooking. i picked a cucumber salad recipe and also a red berry dessert thing. they were really easy to make vegan. i bet if you search around for german recipes, you can find a vegetable side dish to easily make vegan  :) is it a catered party or are your coworkers doing the cooking? if theyre cooking, you could bring a tofurkey brat (sooooo good) and some foil and ask if they can throw it on the grill for you.

i´ve known pierogies as russian actually, but i thnk there might be different ways to prepare it so that every country has its own special recipe...

if i were you, i would bring anything like the omnivores will have in a veganized version and also go for vegan potato salad and sausages. or sausages in blankets? if u get vegan spaetzle over there it would also be an option. ot latkes (potato patties).

hi there, i live in germany, and bratwurst, and potato salad just about sums it up, but how about you make your own potato salad from one of the recipes on here, go for the german chocolate cake too, and maybe some sauerkraut (ick)?  dark rye bread is also very popular.

let me know if you need any more ideas k

Ah ha, Octoberfest... I think it's actually spelled Oktoberfest. In Kitchener Ontario, where I'm from, Oktoberfest is celebrated every year. There are huge German parties and dances, keg tappings, barrel races, shows, celebrations, and a parade. And lots of beer. It actually starts this weekend, the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving. The only part of it I've ever gone to is the parade.

Fun times though.
