NVR embarrassing/funny situation

So I wore these really cute heels to work today, went home at lunchtime to let the dogs out & while there changed into my super comfy/ not so cute addidas sandals. I didn't realize I forgot to change my shoes back until I walked into the office.  :-[ Now I'm sitting here hiding my feet under my desk. I'm not sure what to do. Do I drive back home & change them? I'd be gone for 30 minutes, but it would lookodd me leaving in the middle of the afternoon. Do I just try to hide them under my desk? Or walk around like nothing is wrong hoping noone would notice? Maybe just tell everyone & have a good laugh about it.

I'd wear my sandals with pride.  But that's me.  I'm pretty laid-back and have little shame.

Ahhh, Baypuppy beat me to it. I vote for the 'just rock them' idea too!

or take 'em off!  I've been known to trek to the copy machine barefoot (this was at my old office job, now I work from home in my bunny slippers!)

;D Thanks! I hope you'll realize They really don't go with my outfit, I'm wearing dressy pants &  a short sleeve sweater set. Anyways, what am I going to do now? Guess I'll just rock 'em!

What?!  You mean, sporty sandals DON'T go with everything?!  Oops.

My husband will get a big laugh at this when I get home

I say just wear the sandals and rock 'em.  I'm sitting here barefoot myself because the straps on my dressy sandals are digging into my feet.  I wish I had something to change into.  I'm going shopping after work but I have no other place than Walmart and Payless to get any soft stretchy shoes!

That's funny.  Everyday to work I wear green pants and a polo shirt, both in moderately good condition.

As for the shoes.  You don't have to explain your fashion-forward style.  Wear them well.  ;D

i know... no wonder my students will make it a point to tell me "i match" once in a while. do i have no idea how to dress myself? (interestingly, though, they usually say i match when i'm wearing a tie)

My mom points out when I "match."  I must be (in some ways) a disappointment to her.  She has shoes for every outfit, and everything.  She loves to shop.  I have to be dragged into a clothing store and do not own a single outfit.  I just throw stuff on and that's it.  No planning, no worrying.

I agree--rock 'em. Or, you could construct some ridiculous story about why you "need" to wear those shoes this afternoon--you know, bunions, blisters, bad arches, etc. One of the professors in my dept. came to school last month with two different shoes on--and by different I mean completely different (one sneaker and one dress shoe). He said it was dark when he got dressed. At least you're wearing a matching pair.

Haha!  The sad thing is, if I encountered someone who wasn't wearing matching shoes, I would never know it.  Seriously.  I pay no attention to that sort of thing whatsoever.

So far noone seems to have noticed. But I'm not walking around a whole lot either.

Anyone who is fixated on my feet deserves a surprise!! Trust me people seldom look that far down at work unless it's some silly fashion maven--and who cares what they think?

I once went to work in my bedroom slippers (discreet red velvet) and it was too late to go back home--clear across town. I only had 3 hrs of class but EVERYbody noticed--of course they were kids.

At least you didn't go to work with two different shoes on. One of my staff did that and was mortified. Fortunately, she had another pair of shoes in her car.

Seriously.  When my kids (classroom kids) ask me why i wear the same sandals everyday, I tell them that it's because teachers aren't allowed to go barefoot at school.  ;D

This has happened to me too! I was working very early shifts  in the middle of winter - 3.30am start and I always took my uggies off and put my shoes on just before I left home but one day I forgot and didn't realise until I got to work. I went home and changed and was an hour late.

Funny because if it happened now I really wouldn't give a toss  ::)
