You are here

Five interesting things people don't know about you.

Go!

1.  I collect mugs, miniature books, and state quarters.
2.  I have this idea in my head for a cafe with these mini cake desserts.  (But not cupcakes; it's different.)  I came up with it freshman year.  I even have some sketches of it in my sketchbook.  Top secret stuff.
3.  I was born with cerebral palsy because the umbilical cord got wrapped around my neck, but it's very very mild.  Many people with CP have trouble walking or speaking, but mine only left me with a very slight limp in my right foot and some random difficulties playing the violin.  No one notices unless I tell them, that's how minor it is.  I was pretty lucky.
4.  I really love corsets.  Love 'em.  But I don't own one yet.  Call me anti-feminist.  Sorry, ok!
5.  I am good at spelling.  I went all the way to the local televised bee (NOT the big one, the Syracuse one) in eight grade, and it was pretty fly.  Now I love crosswords.  I credit my grandfather, who used to write crossword puzzles.  :)

1.  When I was a pre teen, my family had goats as pets.  I had one myself, named Midnight, who was our boy and was big but stinky as he got older as unaltered male goats do.
2.  I have a drawer at work with a dozen pairs of shoes in it, all black.
3.  I hate it when LB puts coffee grounds in the sink, it makes me gag.
4.  I once painted a mural on a living room wall, of a window open to a flower strewn hillside with a castle in the distance.  Though I didn't finish it before we moved.
5.  At almost 35, I cant decide if I am more goth or more pirate so I combine the two.  Luckily I look much younger than my age.

(KMK,  I do own 2 corsets and 2 bodices but those are for Ren Faires.  Someday I hope to be able to make my own so I have more.)

Hopefully I can make somebody laugh.

1.  I am afraid of heights but I love to fly.  I can't climb more than 10 ft on a rock wall but I love to fly in a plane and dream to someday ride in a hot-air balloon, hangglide, and ride in a ultra-light.

2. My two favorite animals are cats and snakes.  I think snakes are the most beautiful animals on earth.  I used to have a 7 foot red tailed boa constrictor named Logan that was my beloved pet until she escaped outside.  I hope whoever owned that house after we moved didn't find her and kill her!

3. I wrote a small novel that took 10 years to write.  I finished it about 3 years ago and it is 115 pages long, single spaced, in Word.  It was called Through the eyes of a Vampire and is a dark romance.  I used to have a thing for vampires that I don't have anymore.  I never published it or anything, I am too embarrased about it, it is something I keep on my computer and don't like to let others look at it.

4. I like to work on cars.  I like to do all my own maitenence and if I had the room, money, and tools to do so, I would love to start a hobby where I restore old cars.  I do most of my own maitenece on my car, but tools are the biggest problem, I don't own a whole  lot of tools.

5. My favorite classes in college were: Calculus, Physics II (especially the chapters about lenses and light), internal combustion engines, and orbital mechanics (about calculating the trajectory of a space craft going to places in outer space having to account for mass loss via fuel, gravitational pull of celestail bodies, etc.)

1.  I don't want another cat after Cat.  I can't plan to go anywhere for more than a few days at a time and I worry about him a lot.  I wouldn't trade having him for anything, but I don't want another cat.

2.  I like wearing sundresses.  I don't own a dress, but I remember how comfortable they were back in the 80s when I wore dresses.  I thought that if men found out they'd wear them, too.

3.  I'm in league with the world's biggest klutzes.  I don't know how some people make it through life without knocking something over every few minutes.

4.  Blood, guts, diarrhea, vomit - none of that disgusts me.  I'm good to have around in a crisis.

5.  I HATE change.  Transitions in life change, not coins.  That's why it's hard to be in a relationship (what if it gets too committed) and to wear "grown up" clothes (I'm 36 and I dress like a college student).  I am really good at backing up vehicles using side mirrors.

It took me a really long time to think of even one thing that you guys might not know about me. Plenty of people IRL are surprised by different aspects of my character, depending on how they know me, but you guys all know that I've run marathons, don't watch tv & am vegetarian.

1. I don't believe in God. I don't think anyone other than Smooch knows this about me because I am not vocal about it & when I told him he was kindof disturbed (even though he understood my reasons), so I haven't told anyone else. I think most people I know IRL would feel sorry for me or something and I don't want them to feel bad so I keep it to myself. I believe in the main ideas behind Buddhism even though I do not practice it regularly.

2. I don't hate my job, but I feel like it is a big waste of my time and that there is something else I should be doing that would give me greater happiness but I haven't figured it our yet.

3. I like cheezy pop music that most people can't stand. Seriously, anything with an upbeat tempo, catchy lyrics and is being overplayed on the radio.

4. I can get very impatient and/or annoyed with people very easily. I try to relax and not to be mean towards them, but once in a while I really snap & get bitchy towards strangers. I'm relaly working on this.

I was previously engaged to and living with a guy when I met Smooch. I'm pretty sure the relationship wouldn't have lasted anyway, but it helped to know that there actually were good guys out there.

1. I was on t.v. once and got to meet one of my favorite baseball players. He was so sweet and gave me a piece of gum. I was so nervous, I chewed it, but kept it, LOL!

2. I have lots of fears; one of them is bees. When I was about 10, there was a bee in the car with us and I tried to climb out the rear window while my dad was driving down a mountain!

3. I would love to have my own animal sanctuary. I'd settle for just being able to work with Best Friend's or Pasado's someday.

4. I homeschool my kiddos.

5. I have a HUGE thing for Eeyore. :)

I love this! KMK, wow about the CP! hh...I'm with you on the klutz thing..get mine...

1. I had a MAJOR accident when I was 16 (almost 17). On a first date, I fell off a 35 ft high dam, landed on my feet, and then fell over and hit my head on a rock. This was a really big ordeal, and could be a book...but....I broke my femur right above my knee, was in a coma, and went back down to a 5th grade reading level. This caused a major personality change (which I'll elaborate on in #2), and some craziness for quite a while. It took about 2 years for a  "full recovery."  I also had/have (I guess), a very strange relationship with the guy I was with when I fell...that's a WHOLE other story.

2. After my accident, I became completely uninhibited (was disinhibited) with my appearance/personality, and became "goth" or "punk." I was known as "safety pin girl" because I would safety pin printed off lyrics/sayings/things on my crazy clothes. I also wore crazy makeup, and had platinum hair. Before this...I was the girl who wanted to fit in with everyone, and "be popular," which I wasn't.

3. Also related to #1 and 2-I was a bit of a "pot-head" for a while...which led to some other crazy behaviors.

4. A lot of you know this, but...I went from Neuroscience Grad. Student (what I always wanted to do/worked towards) ---> working 2 crappy retail jobs, and feeling like I really need to do something different with my life!

5. I've never had a driver's license.

Kind of sad I guess...but these are all related to #1....it was a big deal...

Get outta here, AC!  That's crazy!  You never told me that story!  That could be a movie.  With, ummm, Scarlett Johansson as AC.

Well, I'm glad you're OK! *hugs*

I'll be your number 1 customer, and make sure you don't climb any high damns.

It took me a long time to think of things, and I don't even know if these are good responses, but here goes...

1. I have serious self-esteem issues, but I also know that I'm a really, really capable person (I get incredible marks in school, have scholarships that are paying for my education, am generally liked by most people, am super involved in the community, etc.). I know a lot of my low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, etc. come from being a twin sister. My sis (her name's Rebecca) always seemed to get the good grades so easily, was socially competent, and is a dominant personality (VERY dominant - she was a big bully to me sometimes). So now, I'm a little messed up. I really want to do great things, and feel like I can, but I'm terrified.

2. (This relates to #1) I'm a social recluse. I don't really have friends. Growing up, I was usually "Rebecca's sister" and not my own person. Sure, I had and have "friends"... But I don't go out drinking with the people I knew in high school (and that's all they seem to do these days) or do anything with people socially. I'm not very competent in that respect. And whenever I plan to spend time or hang out with others, I get really anxious.

Jeez, I AM a little messed up.

3. When I was 18 I had gallstones, and during that summer had gallbladder surgery (usually gallstones happen to people who are older and who consume a lot of fatty foods - the cholesterol - but for me it was because significant weight loss that played around with cholesterol and how things functioned in my body). Now, no gallbladder to speak of! (And while I was recovering from the surgery and couldn't move around much, my cat got really sick and had to be taken to the vet to be put down - that was the worst week of my life.)

4. I have never been kissed. That's right ladies and gentlemen (and everyone in between), I'm 20 and haven't been kissed. I think this relates to #2.

5. I used to feel compelled to do sit-ups before eating anything - it's HUGE for me to admit this. It was a dysfunctional behaviour that I've gotten over, but it really consumed my life for a while. Kind of like an exercise addiction, only on a smaller scale.

Yeah, these are kind of downers, aren't they? Maybe when the sun's shining I can think of more positive ones.

Wow, I feel kinda boring compared to you guys...

1) I grew up in Amish country.  Seriously, one of my closest friends in elementary school was Ina, an Amish girl. They weren't allowed to use "technology" such as zippers, so she had to use straight pins to hold her dress closed…
2) I dropped out of highschool when  I was 17 to run away to the city with some goth/punk dude.  I married him just for the hell of it…needless to say it didn't work out. I had received honors and straight A's and was scheduled to graduate early and everything…but yeah, I thought I was too kewl for that…looking back I realize that was not the best life decision.
Also, I was kind of a delinquent, I once got escorted to school by the police...Also, I got married again like a dumbass...But its all good. I have been in bad relationships all of my adult life so I have finally learned my lesson. I am all done with relationships now!
3) I grew up on a very small farm.  I had no problem running around barefoot thru sh*t…lol…it was very rural and my best friends were the animals.  Mostly a crazy white horse named Sedeana.  She was wild and fast and almost killed me a couple of times.  But I loved her.
4) I once attempted acting …I did some Indie film work and realized it just wasn't my thing.  I like creative things, but I like being the one in control.
5) I had all of my kids at home.  I reached down and pulled them out with my own hands.  It was sweet.

eta: Ally, we would probably have gotten along really well during your dark phase!
eta: Oktokrewl, I love you even more now...I can never make career decisions either....

Whoa! Wow....you just reached down and pulled them out? Wow...I think I need some elaboration.

Can we not get along really well, now?  :)

One of my best friends is 24 and she JUST got her first kiss :)

1.  When I was a kid I use to be so scared of dying that I would try to not fall asleep just in case I died while sleeping

2.  I've always wanted to write; stories, lyrics, poetry, books...

3.  I was mean to a girl in elementary school for no reason and have felt horrible about it since

4.  I use to think that I must have been beautiful yet horribly mean in a past life and now in this life I'm learning my lesson by having to be humble because I'm not so beautifull...

5.  I don't like small talk.

Of course we get along well now...I just meant I was a goth pothead for awhile too.... :D

When I had them I was either sitting in bed, sort of leaning back or squatting(not lying on my back with my feet in the air like they make you do in the hospital....)  So, my first daughter came out really slow.  For several pushes her head was sticking out and looking up at me, so I grabbed her little arms/shoulders and pulled her out...

I hate small talk too! and I jus thought of another one I couldve put. When I decide I want to leave someplace (party, friend's house, parent's house, etc.) I want to leave NOW. Like I hate walking around & saying good bye to people or if you say bye to someone they keep talking to you.

I'm learning alot of crazy things about everyone!

1. I graduated high school (an Amish school, no less!) when I was 16.

No way!  Where are you from?

1.  I can turn just about anything someone says into something dirty.  I am the queen of sexual innuendo.

2.  I have a huge collection of euro-trash occult and sexploitation films, but I think some of you already know this.

3.  I am Chickasaw by descent but follow Lakota tradition.  I am a member of a Lakota lodge and am called Holly Storm Cloud.  I am a healer, but I cannot heal myself.

4.  I am a scuba diver and I enjoy swimming with sharks, they are graceful and beautiful....until they eat you!

5.  I am afraid of the closet monster and the monster under my bed...seriously.  When I get up in the middle of the night, I jump away from my bed so the monster underneath can't grab my feet.  I check the closet before I turn off the light and leave no crack in the door.

3.  I feel like I haven't accomplished anything in my life except raising my children.

4.  I can do many things well but don't have the self confidence to do them professionally even though many people tell me I could.
