Documentary: Earthlings?

And if so, comments?

Honestly, I have gotten about halfway through, balling the entire time!

I think this video could convert anyone to veg! It makes me despise humans honestly :(

If you want to watch it click here:

It is very graphic and sad, I suggest watching it alone unless you don't mind sobbing for a few hours in front of people.

I haven't seen it... may not have the constitution for it... sigh. *Why* are humans like this? and where's the application form for a species transfer, please?

I tried to watch it a few months ago, and I was sobbing the entire time. Finally Z stopped it and made me put it away. I'm glad he did. Honestly, I know this makes me a huge wuss and unable to face the realities of life, but I couldn't watch it. I was holding my doggie so close and sobbing into his fur. Z said "this is why you're vegan. You're doing what you can. Now turn it off." I guess he's kind of right, although I was hoping it would spur me on to do more, to be more upfront and talk to people about their choices, to do more to stop the torture of innocent animals. I don't know. I feel bad that I turned it off, but there was no way I was going to get through it. I did, however, tell someone else to watch it, and he is now vegetarian. I guess it's not intended for us, the sensitive ones.

I've watched it all, a couple years ago. P and I bawled the whole time. And I won't be revisiting this thread, because I don't want to think about it anymore.

The thing about these videos - they rarely make me cry. It's not that I'm a cold-hearted prick (well maybe). Kidding. Videos like these inspire me. After watching these videos, I always ask myself, what can I do? What can I do to have a positive impact in this world?

This keeps me centered and balanced. After all, I can't control other people. But maybe after doing positive things that are under my control, others will do the same.

Ditto. Things like that always reaffirm my beliefs, and make me think about the effects of my actions and what I can do.
I just watched it (all 10 parts on youtube). I feel like...he started out with just facts, and got more subjective as it went. Most videos like that contain a lot of subjective words, and maybe it would be more broadly accepted if there were fewer. Just the facts. They are horrible enough, right?

I think this is by far the gnarly-est animal rights movie EVER... I really want to finish watching it. I bought it on amazon and it hasn't arrived yet. I will probably only watch it once. I just feel like you could tell any non vegan that doesn't understand why you are vegan, "Hey watch this and you'll understand". I doubt they would question your beliefs after watching that

As I was eating lunch today, I was thinking about this video, your comments, a million other things....all in my head at 100 mph. Anyhow - I haven't watched all 10 videos. I didn't even know there were 10 videos until you mentioned it. I could see, as you said, the narrator getting more subjective as time went on. But, as I said, these videos usually just challenge/inspire me.

I must say, though, I really got into where the narrator was trying to take the viewer. His main argument as that no one is greater than the other. We're all inhabitants of this world and we all share it. We're all separated but united all at the same time.

I must say, Amy, I do like your spirit and determination. I do hope you get more people moving to the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. Personally, I've found trying to talk people into it or showing them videos in the hopes of leaving their meat-eating ways - it never works. People have to make that particular choice on their own. I've found, leading by example works wonders.

Keep up the good fight but don't get frustrated when people shut you out. Stand strong to your beliefs and maybe you'll get some followers.

I have converted a handful of people in my year of being vegan... and another handful of conscience eaters who really limit their animal food intake...i try to not get into people's faces about veganism and animals rights but suggest things: websites, books, movies, recipes, to get them thinking...

My main tactic right now is just showing people how easy it is to be vegan, giving them a link to my blog so they can see what us crazy vegan people eat... i just try to be really positive about the whole thing and blow off steam when i get home and talk to my BF who understands me a bit more... i try not to unleash the crazy on my new coworkers... not yet :)

I just think people view veganism as this really hard diet or these crazy animal rights people... i try to change that... i think our movement has evolved from those old perceptions. i think veganism will only keep on going and growing!

speaking of cry-worthy AR documentaries, I always cried at the end of The Witness. I even have an association with that Sarah McLachlan song now - I can't hear it.

ummmm.... food for thought: maybe don't watch Earthlings, then --  it seems to be even more difficult to watch than THAT! (I know what you mean, tho; that's a potent commercial!)

I tried watching it last night. I got about 20 minutes in and was bawling my eyes out the entire time. I didnt even get to the "Food" part of the documentary. I knew things would get a thousand times worse, so I switched it off.

But because of that--I'm on day one of being vegan (I've been vegetarian for almost two years now). I like knowing that what I need to survive wont cost anyone elses life, animal or otherwise.

Ok Amy (amymylove), I just finished watching this DVD. I like messed-up shit like movies, books, magazines, and other media...but wow.

And although it's rare - I cried.

The movie left me wondering, "what the hell are we doing to our world?"

Wow I have yet to watch the whole thing... Just the parts I watched really bothered me... Especially the part about fur and animal skins... I think that might be where I left off... People are truly disgusting :(

It was awful. I'm surprised I made it thru but I really wanted to see every angle. I honestly couldn't sleep for 2 hours because the images kept playing thru my head. These meat and clothing factories affect us all, even if we don't eat meat or buy new leather and fur.
