Vegan Eats in San Francisco
I left the non-veg wife at home and I'm in San Francisco right now with my 14 year old daughter. This is a 3 day vegan eating trip. Every meal we are having is vegan. We ate at Gracias Madre for lunch and just returned from the Millenium for dinner. We are on the top floor of the Hotel Tomo, in a corner room, with an amazing view of the city lights. All is good!
Get a vegan pizza at Amici's (there's one on King, and one on Lombard), get a raw cheesecake at Cafe Gratitude (8th & Irving), get some fake meaty asian food at Golden Era, get some creative vegan Japanese food at Cha Ya, get some rockin' seitan sandwiches at Weird Fish, get ice cream sundaes at Maggie Mudd, and there's a Thai place called Chili Lemonm Garlic that apparently can use fake meats in any of their dishes (never had it though).
Oh, and there is definitely a sausage place on Haight (right next to Toronado, which has an excellent selection of Microbrew stuff if you're into beer) that has a vegan sausage.
I'm with secondbase on the recommendations.
Also ... Dosa is delicious and vegan-friendly.
Oooh... excellent recommendations! Where did you end up eating the rest of the time??
And agreed, we need better vegan brunch options in SF!
Crap, now I gotta visit San Fran. That all sounds amazing!!
(at least book tours are tax write-offs! Muah-ha-ha...)
Fun! I haven't been to the Red Door Cafe... definitely have to check it out!
St. Francis Fountain would be a lot of fun for you two. Soy milk shakes! And yummy vegan breakfast stuff. Super fun place. I LOVED Millennium. The Loving Hut in Chinatown was good, too. Great veggie city!
