Dinner party-desert best recipe to bring?

I am bringing desert and want to impress. Any recipes anyone can lead me to?  I saw one for cupcakes from  VCTOTW (don't have the cookbook)  for Basic Chocolate Cupcakes that got great reviews although I never made cupcakes before but that wouldn't stop me.  Don't want to make cookies though.

Thanks!

Nice cupcakes! ;)b

if you end up feeling like not baking, i suggest the no bake chocolate peanut butter pie from jovb.  i made this and topped with with the peanut butter caramel from vcon and then added sliced bananas right before serving.  it was a hit..delicious and super easy - not to mention you don't have to heat up your kitchen..

Josh and I second and third this idea!  We didn't top ours with bananas but did everything else and oh my!  This is so delicious!  It's like eating creamy yummy peanut butter fudge.  I'm making one to take to Josh's family reunion (going to be the only veg*n there...) because it's a good omni-proof recipe  ;)b

I wanted cupcakes but my friends eyed lighted up when I also suggested carrot cake. I saw baypuppy's carrot cake and thought I might thry that-it looks super yummy!

Baypuppy:

If I add raisins and walnuts should I keep the amount of everything else the same?

If I wanted to use agave how much should I use? or should do  I need to use dry sugar??

Thanks!

Ooo, the carrot cake is a good choice and BP's carrot cake is awesome!!

Although I'm not BP  8-) , I have made this cake and don't think I reduced anything when I added raisins and nuts.  I also added some shredded coconut and again didn't reduce anything else.  And it was awesome!!

I used reg. sugar though, so can't help with the agave question.

Beautiful cupcakes, Baypuppy. They look like something I'd buy at a fancy bakery. I appreciate the recommended cupcake decorating kit, too. It's fairly inexpensive.

yes, yes! I have one and while I totally suck at using it, it makes my cupcakes about half as attractive as BP's! I can't even imagine my cupcake baking life without it

thanks bp!

One more question:

Were going over there 6pm on Friday. Would it be better to make it right before I go or does it need to "sit" for  a day?

Do you plan to frost it?  If so, you'll need to let it cool completely before frosting it so the frosting won't melt, so it might be best to make it the night before and frost it right before you go.  If you aren't going to frost it, then it shouldn't matter.  It's delicious either way  ;)b
