NYC vegweb party!! be there or be square!!

Also, Baypuppy might be coming to town to do a meet and greet and thesis signing.  But she's not promising anything yet.  She said she'll have her agent get back to us to see if we can come to agreement on the details.

What am I being counted for?  I'm a NYC vegwebber...

Darnit. I don't want to be square, but I'm just too far away. Do you think I can be triangle, or even crescent? :D

This is funny. I didn't even read this thread yesterday & last night I had a dream that I met up with a bunch of Vegwebbers but we were all camping and it was like back in time or something. Everyone was a hybrid of themselves & people from my past. Like Baypuppy was this girl I used to work with & Foofie was her brother, Dinkfeet was a friend from highschool, Yabbit was my childhood friend's mom, Violin was a friend of my sisters who I used to babysit, I know Cali was there, but I can't think of who she was, and a bunch of other people were there too. We had a fun time.

I have eaten at Candle Cafe on 79th.  It was awesome.

Oh! I want to come!

And about the MetroCard, you can get one of these:

1-Day Fun Pass
Cost: $7, reduced fare not available
Good for unlimited subway and local bus rides from first use until 3 a.m. the following day. Sold at MetroCard Vending Machines and at neighborhood stores. Not available at station booths.

I think that just means you can't get them at the booths in the stations with the people inside. I think you can buy them at the machines located inside the stations though. I know a friend of mine bought one of those day passes and I don't think he went to any place special. I don't know what stores sell them really... I mean, I know a store around the corner from me sells metrocards. I think they probably have the same machines you would find at the stations though.

I thought I heard a while ago that moo shoes closed. But you can still order online.

okay, here is the deal:

i'm only going to be in town on Saturday. all day.

BUT

i will be bringing with me special friends camillus AND DR (tigraviva) with me!

they are gonna cruise the city during the day and i'll meet up with them post conference. i just have to give a paper and go to the book exhibit  ::)

will post more on stuffs later, but i'm hoping we can meet up with everyone. might have to do a late lunch and a late dinner with kennedy's voulnteer sched, but we'll have to eat anyways. maybe we can have a fun afternoon in the city if people want to hang around for a while? i know DR wants to go to museums, and i told cammy about moo shoes, so there are places to go and check out!

btw do people know about subway passes? can you get a day pass? or is it always per ride? we're driving down and parking, also, so if you have tips/ideas about how to keep us from breaking the bank that would be great.

why not just drive to say...hmm....Poughkeepsie...and park there? You can take the train to the city...not pay for parking....and even buy your subway passes there. Just a thought for you to ponder.... unless you really NEED a car in NYC....why bother driving in... That's what I usually do... so much less stress...and it saves a lot of money as well...as i'm SURE you know parking in NYC is not cheap.....and if you park on the street...be prepared to play the "moving game" of moving your car from one side of the street to the other to avoid a ticket.... (except on sunday)....Before I bought my condo in the city that had parking (which cost $600 a month back then)...I played that game of moving my car for years........ just "food for thought"....  ;)

Heheh, a trip to NYC would be awesome but I'm already gonna be in New Orleans that weekend.  You'll just have to be the only secret agent in attendence.

Yo, I think I'm going to try to make it up for this. I'm emailing friends now to see if I can find a place to crash...

Man, I've been out of the loop,  just noticed this thead!

I live smack in the middle of the East Village, which has a huge veggy restaurant concentration. It's weird, I was just thinking the other day that an NYC vegweb meetup would be cool...I did one last year as part of the NY Meetup thingy, not vegweb, but it was lame.

I second the Dim Sum. The Vegetarian Dim Sum House (despite the name, supposedly vegan, at least according to my 2003 NYC veg restaurant guide ;P) in Chinatown is AWESOME! If you can deal with walking by the fish markets.

I'd also be happy to meet anyone in the subway or whatev, if they're worried about getting lost. NYC is pretty easy to figure out though, as long as you're on the grid! (which Chinatown is NOT, but I could find  my way to the Dim Sum place in my sleep)...

...and let's NOT forget the tchotchkes!

Okay, so we're meeting Sat. am somewhere in Chinatown? What's the time/location?
