My POPularCORN

What you need:

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3/4 cup unpopped popcorn
1/4 cup margarine, melted (optional)
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

What you do:

Put salt, nutritional yeast and cumin in dry container of your blender and grind until almost powdery.
Heat oil in a large saucepan or soup pot over medium-high heat. Add popcorn, and place the lid on the pan. Shake to coat kernels with oil. When the corn starts to pop, shake the pan constantly until the popping stops.
Remove from heat, and pour popped corn into a large bowl.
Drizzle the melted margarine over the corn if using, and sprinkle with yeast, chili powder, cumin and salt mix.
This is my famous snack and everyone loves it. This brings your popcorn traditions to a new level!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

LOVE this!  I made a bunch of seasoning at once so I always have some on hand for when I need a popcorn fix.  I don't like drizzling melted EB over the popcorn because it makes it soggy, so I used an olive oil spray to coat the popcorn and then tossed it with the seasoning.  The seasoning doesn't stick as well as I would like, but that's okay, I rub the popcorn into the seasoning at the bottom with each bite and just lick up the leftovers with my finger when I'm done :)  I know, it's pathetic but delicious!

Yum, this is one of my favorite ways to eat popcorn-- I don't use EB though, usually just some Bragg's spray with whatever spices I'm craving and sometimes somes n.y  as well. Great for when you're wanting to munch on 'something' but not feeling like cooking...

Yum! I popped a small portion in my air popper, and then added Braggs and melted EB, the salt, cumin, chili powder, and NY, and just tossed around! Great snack!

I used this recipe as a base and took the idea and ran with it. I use it every weekend now! I pop popcorn in some earth balance. Then I just throw on some more melted earth balance, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, and nutrional yeast. It is the most amazing thing ever!!!!! Way better than that old movie theater popcorn I used to get. This rocks!

to make it even lower in fat/calories.....put pop corn kernals in a lunch size brown paper bag, tape it closed and pop in microwave, about 3 minutes, but watch it closely, it burns easier than regular microwave popcorn.  Much cheaper than microwave popcorn and healthier too

this is such a yummy snack!  i've made it twice now - the first time with melted EB and the second time with Bragg's.  this spice mix stuck better to the Bragg's, for me.  i also throw my nut. yeast + spice mix in a coffee bean grinder for a fine powder.  used 1 tsp of chili powder but 2 tsp of cumin because it is my favorite spice.  sooo good!  i'm munching on some now as i make my way through finals cramming.  thank you!

I just  recently found this website and I've been thrilled to see so many recipes. I've created a recipe box. When I came upon this recipe, it was 10 min before American Idol. I thought, "Great time for Popcorn!" So I ran into the kitchen and whipped up a batch of this snack. AND it is SUPER!!!  And congratulations to the author of the recipe as this is the FIRST one from the site that I've actually made. One thought....instead of using a blender to blend the spices/nutritional yeast, use an electric coffee grinder. It really accommodates such a small amount versus a large blender. Thanks again for the recipe....I hope the others I've chosen are up to such a great standard.

Absolutely divine! Before becoming vegan I loved cheddar cheese powder on popcorn. This is much more interesting and I know exactly what is in it! Bravo!!
