Lima Bean/Cabbage Soup

What you need: 

2 cups dried lima beans, soaked and simmered 45 minutes
1 16 ounce package shredded cabbage and
1 onion, chopped
several colves of garlic, minced
1/2 cup white wine
1.5 quarts water or stock
1 tablespoon chicken flavor vegetarian broth mix
2 teaspoons saltfree lemon pepper
2 teaspoons mixed dried italian herbs

What you do: 

Made this Saturday, really good!
Simmer for 30 minutes or so. Cook about 10 ounces pasta twirls or squiggles, add to soup.

this looks great - i'm going to try adding more greens, mostly kale, too. thanks.

I've made this recipe twice, and it is quite good--my husband loves it.  As written, the recipe is a little on the bland side, so I add a cup or so of left-over homemade marinara sauce and the soup really benefits from the addition of a little bit of tomato flavor.  I also saute the onion and garlic before adding the remaining ingredients.  Thanks for the recipe!
