Fake Steak Teriyaki & Cashew Nut Stir Fry
Morningstar Farms Meatless "Steak" Strips (8 oz bag)
1 pound bag Birdseye frozen peppers & onions mix (or chop up a red, green and yellow pepper and 1 medium white onion)
2 tablespoons veggie oil
cashew nuts (good handful)
1/4 cup of Teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoons dried ginger
fresh cracked black pepper and salt to taste
2 cups cooked white rice
Heat a large skillet and add veggie oil to cover bottom of pan. Add frozen peppers and onions. Sauté for about 5 minutes.
Add the ginger, salt and pepper. Sauté for another minute.
Now add the frozen "steak" strips, sautéing them so they are evenly cooked, about 4-5 minutes.
Add teriyaki sauce and cashew nuts to pan, continue sautéing for another 30 seconds or so.
Serve over white rice. Delicious! My husband and I have this at least once a week!
SO HOW'D IT GO?
My family loved this recipe! We used fresh ginger instead of dried, and fresh veggies instead of frozen (red and green peppers and mushrooms), and used Braggs Sauce instead of soy sauce. It was quick and easy!
I made this last night for my hubby,he didn't even ask me if the steak strips were fake(they were) seved it with brown rice....it was delicious...a keeper for sure...thanks for the great recipe
This stuff is so, so good! My omni husband loves it and my omni mom likes the flavor (but not the texture - too soft). It's incredibly easy to make, quick and delicious. I leave out the cashews (I hate nuts of all kinds), only put on a tiny sprinkle of ginger power (not a huge fan of a lot of ginger, plus I find it makes it a bit gritty with the ginger I use) and use fresh green pepper and onion.
I'm eating it right now. It's a great dinner when you're low on time or energy and want something quick and filling. ;D
I just read the reviews for my stir-fry, I'm so glad people like it!!!
This was wonderful! Even my husband (who loves a good steak) thought it was fantastic! Thanks so much for the quick and satisfying recipe!
made this using morning star chik'n strips instead of 'steak'. very, very good. added bamboo shoots and broccoli and used fresh ginger
this sounds very easy, but i would definitely use fresh ginger instead!
I made this quite a while ago. I'm reviewing this today because I've only just noticed there hasn't been any reviews or ratings.
This goes along great with rice. Very easy to make, it's extremely delicious. I did not use frozen bell peppers, I used fresh. I have a little fear of frozen vegetables!
I don't cook often, when I made this, my husband and my mother loved it.
