Chocolate Frosting

What you need:

1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons corn starch
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

What you do:

1. Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cocoa in a medium sauce pan. Whisk in the water.
2. Heat over medium until it gets thick and starts to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes. (Make sure you don't boil too long, or it will set like taffy.)
3. Remove from heat and stir in oil and vanilla. Cool and spread on cooled cake. Enjoy!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I prefer this over the other chocolate frosting I made from this site. Super quick, easy and perfectly supreadable! Yes i can imagine using as a chocolate fudge sauce, dipping into strawberries.

This was pretty good. I used it with the Super Moist Chocolate Cake recipe from this site. After stirring it over medium heat for a minute or two, I got impatient b/c it wasn't thickening up. So, I turned it on high, and it thickened up in just a few seconds. The only thing is that it didn't really harden on my cake... I mean, it was good, but I was just expecting it to harden a little. Whatever, it's really yummy. Thanks for the recipe!

This was quite good, my only suggestion would be to add a little more milk to thin it out, it's kind of hard to spread on a crumbly cake as is. The taste is spot on though, do try it out!

It was really yummy, but also rich, so I advise to not eat too much at a time. Really good though!

This is excellent!!! 5 stars are way too little to give- it should have more. I whisked everything together first until it was well blended and smooth and then I put it on the heat. I watched it whisking it until every part of it began to boil  and then I quickly took it off the heat. And I also used turbinado sugar.

Wow, this is *beautiful*!  Very tasty and so easy to make.  Once it starts to thicken it's pretty much instantaneous.  As for the oil at the end, as I was putting it in and started stirring I was wondering if it was necessary.  But once it's all mixed in (took a minute) it starts to get a "fluffy" texture to it.
Great recipe, thank you!!
