Chocolate Frosting

What you need:

1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons corn starch
4 tablespoons cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup water
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

What you do:

1. Mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, and cocoa in a medium sauce pan. Whisk in the water.
2. Heat over medium until it gets thick and starts to boil. Boil for 1-2 minutes. (Make sure you don't boil too long, or it will set like taffy.)
3. Remove from heat and stir in oil and vanilla. Cool and spread on cooled cake. Enjoy!

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I just tried this recipe for some chocolate cupcakes I made. The consistency is really good but it doesn't taste very well. probably because I used carob powder instead of cocoa powder.

:D This was awesome!  I can't believe that I didn't mess it up.  I'm so excited.  It tastes so good.  Thank you so much for the recipe  ;)b

The other day I found a frosting recipe from a different site and used it with this cake: http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6433.0
Well it came out really really good. Yesterday I realized that it was the exact same recipe as this one, which I had reviewed a while ago, saying it tasted like "bad pudding". This time the texture was still pudding-y but it tasted good and went just perfectly with the cake. I think I may have overcooked it last time. It did not take more than a minute to boil. And make sure you whisk constantly as it's heating, or at least while it boils. I also may have neglected to do this last time.

This was the first frosting recipe I ever tried, and it was better than the storebought crap I used for my last cake!!

GREAT!!

Pair this with Super Moist Chocolate Cake (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6686.0) and you've got a REALLY friggin good dessert!  :)  :)

This worked great with the Easy Chocolate Cake.  I brought it to a party, and it was GONE (I didn't tell people it was vegan).  I topped it with roasted almonds  - see picture.
I don't think I boiled the frosting long enough (in fear of it being hard) and it was kinda soupy, but easy to spread.  I didn't even do it a minute because it was thickening.

GREAT TASTING!!  ;D

This frosting is amazing! It's going straight into my recipe index. I had so much left over I used the rest to coat fresh strawberries. Yum!

This was my first time making frosting, so I was paranoid that I would boil it too long, and ended up not boiling it long enough, so its a bit too liquidy.  That being said, its still awesome!

I have never made my own frosting before, but I needed something for the super moist chocolate cake from this site.
I found it difficult to make as I don't own a proper tablespoon, but by did it turn out tasting - kinda like chocolate fudge frosting.
Yummy yummy, definitely a keeper.
