SO HOW'D IT GO?

I can not find non dairy chocolate any where! Do you have to find them some where special? Is there a popular brand I should look for?

The brand I use is called Enjoy Life Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.  My daughter is allergic to milk, and some nuts.  They are actually dairy, nut and soy free and vegan.  Also made in a dedicated nut and gluten free facility.  My local Ingles and Kroger carries them. You can also find them at the local health food store.  Good luck!!

These are really good! I made sure to use unsweetened applesauce, and for the sugar I used one cup each of white and brown. The end result was thick and moist and fudgey and I didn't find it to be too sweet or too spongy or any of the other things that some people here found it to be. So if you make this recipe, make sure you follow it very closely the first time! If you start reducing the sugar or replacing the solid fat with liquid fat, etc, then yes, you're going to end up with a very different final product! Anyways, these brownies passed the taste test - a roomful of omnivorous boys declared them to be awesome, and my parents, who are skeptical about vegan food, really liked them too! I'll definitely make'em again.

:-/  The flavor was great, but they're too crumbly - I couldn't get them out of the pan without them crumbling to pieces.  I'm going to salvage them by making pudding and making a trifle, but I don't know if I'll make these again.

Tasty, great texture, very, very moist... but so rich. I am not normally one to remark on how rich something sweet is, as I am an absolute fiend for scarfing down sweet things, but when I are half of one of these brownies, I found myself feeling a little sick to my stomach. x.x I will make these again, as they are the most amazing vegan brownies I have ever made, but will do so with FAR less sweetener.

OMG!  I made these for my BF who is vegan and he scarfed them up soooo fast - he's lazy and rarely cooks for himself so it had been almost 10 years since he had a brownie (or any other baked goods for that matter).  I'm not vegan myself and I found that the only difference between these and the lacto-ovo ones is the slight apple taste that came from the apple sauce - but all in all, they were delicious!  ;)b

I liked these brownies.  They are extremely rich.  I think next time I will use unsweetened apple sauce, though and half the sugar is plenty sufficient.
