SO HOW'D IT GO?
eh, nothing special. i used a sweetened applesauce so i reduced the sugar. i also reduced the salt and added some cinnamon, allspice, vanilla and a finely chopped apple instead of the raisins. they definitely had a toughness that wasn't enjoyable and i didnt bother bringing them to a get together i had made them for. flavorwise they werent bad, and actually i think the batter was waaaaaay better than the actual cookie. it'd probably be yummy mixed into some vanilla icecream to make an apple pie flavor.
Not bad for an *almost* fat free cookie!
I cut back on the salt, added some vanilla, and experimented by replacing the sugars with Stevia, which made my batter taste weird. The weirdness baked out of it, though. The cookies came out just a little tough, but I'm sure it's probably from the revisions I made in the recipe. So I had to chew a little more than I would have with, say, a guilt-laden cookie, but I didn't mind the extra work because they had a good, guiltless flavor! These are the first cookies I've baked in a very, very, very long time (I'm recovering from anorexia/bulimia), so thank you for the healthy recipe.
These were pretty great! I was looking for a super-simple recipe and it doesn't get any easier than this. I reduced the salt to 1/4 tsp and added a bit of water as the dough was really thick and they turned out great. Oh, and I used dried cranberries instead of raisins. These make a dense, soft cookie with the perfect amount of sweetness. I think these would be great with chocolate chips too!
i gave these a go, subbing maple syrup for the plain sugar. Otherwise i followed the recipe exactly. But after 10 minutes, the outside was done but the inside tasted like raw flour! They're back in the oven right now. Hopefully they'll be edible. :-\
These were great! Very simple recipe, easy to follow. Didnt require many ingredients and I had all the dishes clean before they were finished baking, leaving the only evidence of making them the dirty pan and of course, the cookies! Nice simple cookie. Thanks!
very yummy
Ok..So i am a new Vegan and i tried making a cake the night before which in my mind turned out mediocre, but ok. Now tonight I was happy to announce that I made these cookies without any mess ups (which is a step up from my childhood days of undercooking pasta and burning ramen noodles)..
I altered the recipe as well, instead of raisins i used chopped granny smith (1 finely chopped apple= about 1 cup), i also used 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla ( which couldve been reduced) I also used 1 cup of apple sauce ( 2- 4oz containers of the unsweetened kind), oh and I used whole wheat flour instead. My aunt and cousin, who are picky eaters and non-vegan absolutely loved the apple-cinnamon oatmeal drops....i cooked it for about 15-20 mins...
pretty much this is my new favorite no-mess up recipe. The cookies came out kind of like those unhealthy oatmeal to go squares, minus the preservatives and unneeded flavorings. If i were to make them again I would probably make them into bar forms for a fun breakfast treat.....
I made these yesterday, and they were pretty bland. I think it was because I didn't use raisins or add anything to them except a little cinnamon. Not a bad recipe though! I'll play around with combinations of more cinnamon, vanilla extract, raisins, chocolate or carob chips, and nuts. Yumm - can't wait!
geez, i accidentally used one teaspoon of baking soda instead of powder, but these came out well regardless. i ate a fresh one and they reminded me strongly of the old oatmeal raisin cookies i used to eat.. but with no extra added fat! at first i was skeptical when i mixed the oats in: the dough didnt look like it would even out, but it did. i used 1/2 cup of brown sugar because i dont have white sugar, whole wheat flour, and baking soda instead of powder. i baked for about 18 minutes. these are easy and fun to make. estimated nutritional value with raisins..

These were not bad. I substituted chocolate chips for the raisins as I was seriously craving chocolate! They came out a lot softer than I expected, kind of muffin-like. I didn't have enough apple sauce so I added mashed banana, maybe that's what caused them the be so soft. In any case, they are good for low fat snacking. Thanks!
