Pepperoni Bread
bread dough (you can make your own, or buy the pre-made kind. I know Trader Joe's make a vegan bread dough)
vegan pepperoni slices (I adore the Smart Deli kind, but they seem to be VERY hard to find. I order it by the case from my local health food store)
vegan butter spread, optional
Italian spices, optional
fresh garlic, optional
salt
Preheat oven to 375 F. Roll out the bread dough into a rectangle. Place the pepperoni slices across the entire length of bread. If desired, add the Italian spices and garlic. Roll up the dough so it forms a loaf about 5-6 inches wide. Place on a cookie sheet and baste with melted butter spread. Sprinkle with salt and bake approx. 20 min. It will turn a lovely golden brown when its done. Let cool and slice.
I grew up in Pennsylvania and pepperoni bread was very popular. I moved to the west coast and nobody had even heard of it! It was one of the few snacks with meat that I enjoyed before my veggie days. I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I have!
SO HOW'D IT GO?
