Ridiculously Easy Cheese Sauce

What you need:

3/4 cup nondairy milk (or water)
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
dash garlic powder
dash onion powder
dash salt
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon ketchup

What you do:

1. Into a pan, add nondairy milk, then nutritional yeast. Toss in dashes onion, garlic and salt.
2. Whisk vigorously over low heat. Add flour and whisk vigorously to remove clumps. Get it nice and hot.
3. If it is too thin, add a dash more flour. If it is too thick, add a little water.
4. When you love the consistency, add a little squirt of ketchup for color and a certain nacho-iness.
Pour over everything! Mmmmm. It's cheese gravy!
Source of recipe: I just moved and I don't have a blender, so making my favorite, but time consuming, almond based blender cheez recipe was out of the question. I created this on the spur of the moment. I actually like it better than the other recipe, and it's stupid fast! (also almost fat free!)

SO HOW'D IT GO?

I just spent half an hour trying to find this recipe again! So great and easy to make. Love it.

I've started making this in the microwave, and it turns out perfectly! I just do approximately 45sec to 1 minute increments between stirrings. I have also started using half whole wheat or all whole wheat flour in this recipe and I like the taste even better. Thanks for all the positive reviews!

This is sooo easy and sooo good. I discovered it when I made lasagne and then found out I had forgotten to buy soy milk so no béchamel sauce for my lasagne (which I usually put on it). I made this sauce with water  and it worked great on the lasagne! I made it again today when I came home hungry, as it is really is ridicously easy and thus perfect when I am not in the mood to cook but have nothing ready to eat.

It's super easy! I made some to coat some potato pierogies & veggies that I sauteed! I'll definitely try this again, using it for different types of foods.  Be careful not to use too much flour or it tastes slightly grainy.  But yum!

It's definitely as easy as promised. I suggest doubling the recipe if you are feeding more than one person. And beware of almond/soy milk with any type of sweetener! This can change the flavor. I fried up some thinly sliced zucchini with salt & pepper and toss broccoli into my noodles in the last few minutes of the boil, and presto! A fine, fancy, facil feast. Thanks!

This is SOOOO good!
I put it over brown rice pasta for mac-n-cheese.  My 3 year old is sick today and she just ate her whole bowl :)>>>      I used 1 Table. of Bob's gluten free flour mix for the 2 Table. of flour and it worked great.  I also added a little earth balance butter at the end.
Best "cheese" sauce ever.
