You are here

what are you listening to today?

i had a steady dose of wilco on the way into work.
i will be listening to the new panic cd in just a few minutes.

J. D. Crowe & the New South, the self titled first one, the only one with Skaggs and Rice in the same ensemble. Can't stop playing Sally Goodin, the one with Skaggs playing fiddle. I know he is more known for mandolin, but if you've never heard him on a fiddle you have to check this one out. Chills.

Here is the closest I could find on the web, but warning: it is not bluegrass, as it is bastardized with WAY too many eletro-magnetics. But it is Skaggs playing one of a kind fiddle. Plus not Tony Rice on the guitar, which was half the draw of the original. And on his 3rd break Ricky goes into some sort of weird western swing thang. But here it is (with all the warnings and caveats.)

ETA: Someone posted the audio only original version, so-so quality, but at least it has Rice on geetar.

Black Swan Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Such a hauntingly-beautiful and dark soundtrack. I'm a fan of dark orchestral scores. :)

To me, moombahton is very similar reggaton (sp?) and I can only tolerate it in small doses. And noooooo I hate dubstep! You?

I don't like either genre. I don't like house, trance, electro, etc either though. Most of the electronic music I listen to is pretty dark. I spin hardcore//gabber, some industrial, hard techno and schranz. I used to like DnB, but not so much anymore.

Oh? I like darker music. I didn't know you still spinned. I thought I read somewhere you only did that in Cali. I could be losing my mind. Ha! I've never heard of gabber or schranz but I really like hardcore, industrial, and some of hard techno. I think hard techno depends on the song. Like right now, I'm listening to DJ Rush's "Do You Like Bass?" It's good. Do you do any jungle?

Also, even as a kid, I've always liked The Prodigy. They're sort of popular in the fringes of the mainstream but (in my mind) they have enough of that "fuck you" mentality that they don't sell out and do some noisy, yet fun, shit. I'm also guilty of falling to the pop-ish dance like that you might hear in a club.

eta: And if I come across like I don't know what I'm talking about regarding this, I'm still new to your style of music. I'm always willing to learn new, though.
