Hanging pigs on Ohio farm not cruel

...according to the "expert" witness.  I first saw one of these pictures of pigs being hung through a link on some vegan site or something, not this one, months ago and read lots of comments on it, though it didn't say where it was at or anything.  I just stumbled across it again looking up some other animal issue.  Apparently, it is at Wiles Farms in Ohio.  This is The Humane Farming Association, who had charges filed.  The good news is they got a conviction.  The bad news is the farmer was fined only $250 and one year of probation by the judge who was reluctant to even have this case brought to trial.  They've been killing pigs by hanging for 40 years. :'(  There were other forms of pig cruelty as well, including starvation and lack of veterinary care for severely injured pigs, beatings, throwing live piglets.  The trial was very slanted, in favor of the pig farmer, it seems.  I don't know if this means they stopped hanging pigs, since the fine is so small, or what happened.  It states there's a civil suit against them but not what's become of that.

I remember someone's comments on the site where I first saw this stating that hanging pigs like this was probably not bad because people hang themselves for sexual excitement.  How ridiculous!!  Not remotely the same thing.

The June referred to must be of last year, based on the URL.  I'm not aware of any more updates.

wow.

i may be mistaken, but isn't it considered "inhumane" to hang humans and that's why they don't do it for executions anymore?

if so, i rest my case.
