This week's newsletter is all about the best meal of the day, Brunch! Of course that means we have to giveaway an autographed copy of Vegan Brunch by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. Duh. Check out the book in all its brunchy goodness at www.theppk.com/vegan-brunch.html and after looking at pictures of the most ridiculously delicious looking food imaginable, I triple dog dare you not to enter the contest below!
For a chance to win, let us know your favorite brunch food!
Winner will be chosen (at random!) on Tuesday, August 4th, at midnight PST!
I am very devoted to homemade waffles. That $10 waffle maker was one of the best kitchen investments ever. I love waffles with maple syrup and fresh fruit. Mmm!!
pan veggies-olive oil saute slice zuchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, cubed potatoes, crushed garlic, sliced onions, corn, pepper. serve with hash browns.
Pancakes with jam or applesauce. Roll up and eat.
Banana blueberry pancakes made with spelt flour, and agave, maple syrup, or cooked berries as topping!
Scrambled Tofu on top of giant versions of the biscuits from JOVB then topped with the nooch sauce from Veganomicon (maybe with wilted spinach and a slice of cheeze layered under the scramble). Yum!
Tofu scramble with onions and peppers and salsa, wrapped in warm corn tortillas, along with a side of potatoes, oven roasted with olive oil and garlic.
waffles with fresh fruit syrup
my favourite is either tofu floretine or what I had just this weekend - jake's scrambled eggs in wholemeal pitta with a side of tofu bacon.
If I could have a waffle maker to fit in my teensy tiny kitchen I would have brunch heaven.
I do find it strange how people in the US seem to mix sweet and savoury things together in brunch. It intrigues me and is something I must try sometime!
Tofu scramble, or tofu egg sandwich with some type of potatoes with onions. And after that some fruit, and a yummy smoothie or fresh juice!
My Favorite vegan brunch? So many choices...My top three would have to be tofu rancheros, sour "cream" coffee cake or sticky buns, or a big stack of apple spicepancakes with real maple syrup.
I'd have to go with 'scones' for breakfast. I especially enjoy cranberry or blueberry scones.

Cinnamon rolls!
I'm going to say biscuits and gravy as well! YUM! Add hashbrowns to that and I'm stuffed until dinner.

It's not something I can make for myself, though... I have yet to find a good, EASY vegan gravy recipe. So... I think I really need this book if it has gravy recipes!
::)
My favorite brunch food is a breakfast burrito with tofu scramble and home fries inside. Yum!
usually our big brunch meal is scrambled tofu and potatoes. but my favorite is french toast with a homemade fruit syrup and fresh fruit on top. YUM! and it wont take me 40 minutes to make it!! (hells kitchen joke. wakka wakka)
Crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside shredded hashbrowns with biscuits and gravy. I haven't made biscuits and gravy in 5 years since becoming veg but I still love them. I should definitely attempt some this weekend.
Ginger banana pancakes made with soymilk... mmmmmmmm
mmmm homemade spicy delicious potato hash browns, with lots of yummy toasted bread, then it's all about the flavours - aioli, hummus, chutneys, and good old kiwi favourite - marmite!
I live near the Gulf of Mexico, so of course my fave brunch would include
Mexican hot chocolate, Agua fresca ( a simple drink with either watermelon or pineapple and simple syrup),breakfast enchiladas with tofu, soyrizo, green chiles, sweet onion, tomatillos, potatoes and cilantro, all smothered with vegan monterrey jack. There would have to be refried beans of course, and chopped mango and avocado salsa , along with lots of fresh fruit.
This favorite brunch dates back to my childhood when I enjoyed mi abuelita's(my grandma's) pozole with my family on a Sunday morning. Now I enjoy a vegan version of it.
--A bowl of pozole(Mexican hominy stew in a red chili broth) garnished with lime slices, shredded cabbage and chopped cilantro
--A fresh-baked bolillo(soft, oval-shaped Mexican bread roll) to tear and dunk in the flavorful broth
--A mug of canela(cinnamon) coffee
