Weekly Giveaway: Vegan Bites by Beverly Lynn Bennett! winner is amymylove!
Vegan Bites by the fabulous VegNews columnist Beverly Lynn Bennett (http://www.veganchef.com) is filled with delicious recipes designed for just one or two people. How does herb-walnut pesto, baked ziti casserole, or double chocolate brownies sound? They sound really good to me. So good, in fact, that I might have to dump my family and friends so that I can just cook from this book for the rest of my life. Or, you know, I could just double recipes. That would be okay too.
For a chance to win a copy, let us know your best Halloween costume idea (or ideas)!
Contest ends on Tuesday, October 27th at midnight, PST! Winner will be chosen at random!!
my friends and i are being snap, crackle and pop this year! :)
My best costume idea was when I was a prostitute for Halloween. Not very original? Well, I was six-years-old at the time, and my mom was horrified, so she made me tell people that I was a "lady of the evening"...
a watermelon. green pants, pink shirt with black seeds tacked on
Ah, it changed....
My best idea? I think it was to be Paddington Bear this year, but I am too lazy to put any effort into it so I'm gonna be a lame fairy.
My sister is going as LeeLoo from the 5th Element - she made the costume and its totally awesome.....
I'm wearing all black head to toe except a felt "oven" (that has a little door that opens) to pin to the shirt
My husband and I are hosting a family halloween party and I'm going to gather everyone around and place a felt bun in the oven to let them know we're expecting!
No one knows yet so it should be exciting! :)
I never can think of anything creative, but in the 80's(yeah, I'm old), me and my friends were valley girls
2 years ago I was the Killer Rabbit from Monty Python and the Holy Grail...equipped with red eyes and big pointy teeth.....RUN AWAY RUN AWAY!!!
My favorite costume was probably two years ago when i was a shooting star. I wore clothes with stars over them, had a hugeee cardboard star tied to me that was pretty much as big as me. And carried around toy guns shooting at people.
One year I went as a Christmas tree-green turtleneck, brown pants and wrapped all around in strings of lights. The only bummer was having to stand next to an electrical outlet!
The best costume I've ever been was when I dressed up as a toilet, complete with the bowl, tissue box on top, and rug around my neck.
MY favorite costume was Carrie from the horror film. Even my friends were creeped out when they talked to me.
and cammers will hate it :)
a few years ago, I was limited to only being able to dress from the collar up (stupid uniforms!!) so I dressed as a zombie. I had fun.... one of my instructors even commented that his daughter would freak out and cry if she saw me!!
But THE BEST one I've ever had was a bat girl costume my mom sewed for me!! Complete with a utility belt!
Well, the best costume my Mom ever made for me is when she dressed me up as a Beatnik!
I've kinda been the same things alternating years...
But! I like this year's costume because I'm going to be the Devil and DH is going to be Jesus. I totally plan on making out with Jesus on Halloween!
In grade school I was a carrot orange crepe paper wraped over my clothes. a headband with green strips of tissue paper for the carrot top and that was way before I turned vegan. my sister was a dollar bill. My mom copied both sides of a dollar into posterboard and she wore green tights
When I was a little girl I completely believed in unicorns. I had a book that I swooned over with a supposed angelic looking photography of a real one. :)>>>
My mother, who was the best ever in spoiling my grand ideas, took my imagination to a whole new level when she made me a unicorn costume for Halloween one year. She sewed everything right out of her head, and it was a slightly humorous soft lavender contraption complete with large sturdy horn. It made me look at myself in awe wearing it and probably caused alot of amusement from others looking at me.
I have been thinking , and came up with this idea for a costume this year:
Instead of the tooth fairy... The tooth devil.
I will have an all white costume, paint my face & teeth black where it is opened, And wear horns!
A rotten tooth devil.
I just bought a panda bear toque from a cute little booth outside my university, so I'm going to dress up as a panda this year! :)
If I end up dressing up, I'll be Juno.
I love the outlet & plug idea though. My friend and her husband went as this one year.
