Any Other Single Vegans Here?

I'll tell ya....

Life can be hard, when you're a vegan, and single....

Personally, I could share my life with someone who ate animal products. And there's so few of us out there. I can count on one hand the women I've dated in the last 10-15 years....

Any other single vegans out there? Share your stories!!!

I don't fit it the mold of the typical vegan, and my dating pool is very limited as it is.  My ex ate nothing but trash (aka if it didn't come out of a box, he didn't eat it) and he was fine with my veganism until I married him.  Then it became a huge issue, along with his alcoholism, abuse, etc.  Honestly, I really want to find another vegan or at least someone who is really open minded and will try vegan food.  I'm really wanting a family, and I want to raise my children as vegans.  That is very difficult with a nonvegan dad.  I guess I'd be okay with an omni if he didn't eat that way at home, but it would be hard.  I don't anticipate finding anyone any time soon, and I'm okay with that.  Its better to be single than with the WRONG man.

I don't fit it the mold of the typical vegan

I used to say this about myself, but what I've learned over time is that there is nothing typical about being vegan. I guess you have the stereotypical PETA-loving, hemp wearing, bearded guy / liberated unshaved chick... but other than that, no 2 are alike! We come in all kinds of crazy shapes from many, many different backgrounds. I'm not like any other vegans I know (except maybe Lubi). How many other gay republican vegans who love country music do you know? I mean, seriously! I think it's already been said many times in this thread. Just find someone who is as respectful about your beliefs as you are about theirs. it's too much work for me though, and I love being single!

I used to think I couldn't date somebody who wasn't at least vegetarian because I assumed vegetarian and vegans would be more compassionate and have more in common than meat eaters.

Actually, I have had a few bad experiences with veg*ns which I don't wish to go in to here. I don't think this was because they are vegan, but because I was more accommodating for them due to this rare thing we had in common and they took advantage.  :-X

But anywaaaaaayyyyy... For me now, it's more about respect than diet. I doubt I could date somebody who lives off meat, or junk food, it'd annoy me. I wouldn't want to kiss somebody after they ate meat and the smell clings to clothes. But then I couldn't date somebody who wanted to play video games or watch cartoons all day either. Different strokes for different folks I suppose...

I have never dated a veg*n, but then I rarely date. I used to see a woman who was ex-vegan but obviously that doesn't count. Dating doesn't interest me that much... I am not interested in men often and I hate how small the pool of gay and bisexual women is in London, as much as I hate most of the gay scene in general.

Can't say I'm single...but man, I'm with KMK on this one.
If I had excluded meat eaters from my pool? I would never have dated...and my current boy would be wayyy out of the question (mega steak and potatoes guy)
If he's perfect for me in every other way? I'm not going to hold one "vice" against him. Nobody is perfect.

Haha, I feel like I fit the "liberated unshaved chick" generalization.

What up I'm also a single vegan. As a lot of other posters have stated, I don't use veganism as a standard for dating. It would be a bonus to meet someone who was dope and also vegan. Finding people in general who are mature, nice to be around is somewhat of a challenge.

I am a person who isnt vegan but mostly vegi but thinks it would help the cause should I meet someone who is...
that would be pretty amazing.  I am a single mom of a 9 year old and I think it would be great to have someone help me show her the all vegi-vegan ropes.... :)>>>

When I started reading this thread I was thinking "Man carnival workers get around.  How can so many people have dated carnies?" before I realized you meant carnivores.  ;D

I am also a single vegan.  I just turned 30 and can't say I've learned ANYTHING about dating so far in life.  It is not an easy thing to figure out.

Dating  while in the 30's has been so far more like dating carnies than not... random disappearances, drinking binges,  and seemingly that I have a completely different view of social morays.

I am currently leaning towards celibacy until I meet someone that gets the program.

Yup, I'm in the single pool. I hail from the south, however. I find it unlikely that  I'm going to find any vegans in my area. the closest I've come across was an ex vegan. I'll probably end up with an omni, but it would be awesome if I come across a vegan I have interests with.

Unfortunately. I don't want to limit my dating pool too much, because I'm having a hard enough time as it is, but ultimately, I don't want there to be meat in my refrigerator when I get married. Dairy products I could live with.

My biggest issue is that I can't seem to find a sensible guy who is both vegan and who doesn't have an aversion to organized religion. I find guys online and they're like "yeah, you seem great . . . we could probably be friends . . . but I have a phobia of religion, so I can't date you. Sorry."  And then guys who are religious think I'm too liberal, or don't get the vegan thing. Argh.

Any Aussie (Sydney-based) vegans (any age, sex, background, status) keen for a friendly vegan restaurant-crawl?
There's quite a list of great places to try out- I have no vegan friends though :(

Hit me up if anyone is in the area!
