Sharing the benefits of Hemp Seed Oil (organic)

One of my favorite places in the world has started selling Hemp Seed Oil, so I wanted to share the product here. I have been using it on my face since i"m very sensitive ( my skin) I'm not able to use lotions from the store, not even Jason's without my face burning. I had been using Jojoba but after doing some research on hemp found out just how beneficial hemp seed oil really is, especially for your skin! It's food grade, so you can also eat it as well as use it cosmetically. I have been mashing up avocados and then just adding about 1 tbsp to the mushed up avocado, super delicious. Also good on salads, like cold pasta salads and such.

Also since I'm talking about this awesome place( Mountain Rose Herbs)  :flower2: , where I would love to work or at least live within walking distance, I should mention I get all my dried teas here, and supplies to make my own cleaning products and beauty recipes, like essential oils and carrier oils.

Back onto the topic of Organic Hemp Seed Oil. Here is a short list of information just on it's medicinal properties:

Quote:
Hemp Seed Oil is a highly nutritious food, and contains anti-oxidants, protein, carotene, phytosterols, phospholipids, as well as a number of minerals including calcium, magnesium, sulfur, potassium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus. It is a source of complete protein and contains all twenty know amino acids, including the nine essential amino acids. It also contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, D, and E. The green color in Hemp Seed Oil is a result of the high level of chlorophyll which is naturally present in the seeds.
Perhaps the most valued property of Hemp Seed Oil is its percentage of Essential Fatty Acids, which is higher than any other plant in the world. It contains both Omega-6 and Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids, in a proportion of 3:1. This proportion is the recommended balance of Omega-6 to Omega-3 acids, making it a simple perfect way to complete your diet. Essential Fatty Acids are necessary for our health, and are responsible for the luster in our skin, hair, eyes, transferring oxygen to the every cell in our body, and even the clarity in our thought processes. They also lubricate and clear the arteries, strengthen the immune system, and help prevent viruses and other threats to our immune system. Essential Fatty Acids are not produced by the human body. Instead, they must be obtained from food sources

I love hemp seed oil; I use it almost daily.  Never heat the oil because you'll destroy some of the beneficial properties that were described by CrumbledCookie.

I recently started using hemp seed butter.  It has similar benefits as the oil, but it contains protein that is missing in the oil.  Hemp seed butter has an amazing 11 (yes, 11!) grams of complete protein (all 20 amino acids) per tablespoon.  I used hemp seed butter as I would used almond or peanut butter.

It is truly one amazing product!

Sorry, I meant to say 11 g of protein per 2 tablespoons.

Haha! I love Mountain Rose Herbs. We get all of our herbs, essential oils, and teas there, too. Have you tried their Firefly Chai? Incredible!

Dalveg, wow hemp seed butter! of course it makes sense. I don't know if i'm going to find that around here though I can't even find Hemp milk. I'm sure it's online somewhere?

Vegan♥, I haven't tried the Chai. My tea of choice is their Rooibos. They now have a Vanilla Rooibos, you don't need to add any type of sweetener which is good since i'm trying to cut out sugars. Rooibos has no caffeine but tons of antioxidants and minerals.

Amylove.
Yesterday I created a new tofu mayo to go with a pasta salad ( cold) I posted the recipe it's called Keep it Green Pasta Salad....
But here is the Tofu Mayo recipe :

12 oz soft silken tofu
1/4 cup green olive juice ( the liquid out of a green olive jar) or pickle juice
juice of 1 lime
2 tbsp organic hemp oil
1 tsp wasabi
1 tbsp sugar
fresh chives

Just mix everything in a blender, top with chives and then put in fridge for about 1 hour.
Off the top of my head I know that Hemp Milk has about 40% of your daily calcium needs, that sells it for me right there. Also it has both Omega's. There is a lot of science data out there on Hemp milk. You should research it.

Hemp oil is delicious but I mostly use it on my skin.  I'm hoping it will help prevent stretch marks now since I'm pregnant, but I've used it for massage and skin softening.  I really love the smell and it works great for giving me healthy looking and soft skin.

Mountain Rose Herbs is da bomb:)

Adding hemp oil to homemade salad dressings in place of other oils (or in addition to them) is how I've ingested hemp oil in the past.  The oil does need to be refrigerated as it can go rancid.

so i went to the health food store today and was about to buy hemp seed oil when i looked at the back and it said it had 0 grams protein! i'm confused?

amy:  Mine says that too.  I think hemp oil is mainly just for the flavor and getting those fatty acids we need (the good omega3's and 6's).  When expelling the oil from the hemp seed a lot of the other nutritional value of hemp is lost.

Hulled hemp seed is yummy too, but pricey.  I got a big bag of it last year (like 5 lbs) and still have half of it though.  It keeps in the freezer.

amymylove:  hemp oil has no protein.  It's hemp seed butter that's loaded.  It's the same thing with peanut oil and butter.  The oil is protein-free and the butter is a good source of protein.

oh i see thank u for clarifying! i will check that out next!

Or just plain old hemp seeds? My guess is that hemp seed butter is just ground hemp seeds? Hemps seeds may be easier to find depending on your location.
