Natural, Vegan Friendly Cosmetics?

I'm a new vegan and want to live natural, especially when it comes to things that come in contact with me! I've been able to switch over most products with ease, but I've had trouble finding Vegan and Natural cosmetics without it costing me an arm and a leg. Any advice? Items you like?

I've pretty much tried everything on E.L.F., so if you have any questions about something, I probably have tried it....I'm addicted

you mentioned that you love their studio mascara but we don't seem to have that option in the UK.  Have you tried their other mascara, I think it's called earth and water mascara.

Thats the kind I got first, before I discovered the Studio one....
I like it just fine, very comparable to the standard Maybelline or Cover Girl mascara
The one thing I thought was pretty cool about it was the way it came off when you washed your face....it kinda comes off in strings and doesn't smear it all around your eyes...weird, but cool

I have the BWC mascara, and I like it ok. I'm not picky about my mascara, though...since I wear liquid eyeliner.

A dollar!??!?!!  That's the same thing as free!  ;D

I'm gonna order a bunch of stuff!  Bye bye, pregan cosmetics!

Oh!!! Maybe I should do a vegan makeup review thread?! That sounds pretty good. I want reviews of these ELF things. Maybe it's E.L.F/ELF because they are really, really small things for eyes, lips, and face? I mean..they have to be tiny?!

I like elfs, btw.

they're really not that small - the pressed powder is maybe slightly smaller than my normal stuff, but the eyeshadows and liquid eyeliners are the same size as all other stuff I've had in the past.
I like it - not quite as cheap as in the states but still super cheap (£1.50)

Hey i'm a make-up artist .... and hopefully i can help out ... at least a little ...

One of the girls asked about the difference between bare mineral and bare essentuals ... while they are the same company ... their products that are marked "bare minerals" and pure minerals .... the one's marked "bare escentuals" are not exactly 100% natural ... they also have another breakoff line "buxom" they're not all natural either .... and lastly ... they have come out with a new line of lipsticks that are 100% naturals however they might have beeswax ... i don't know for sure .... so i can't say if they are ALL vegan.

Urban Decay is a great artistry line ... so highly pigmented ... high quality, and where the price may be a little higher ... it's always one of those .... u can use less and get more out of products ... so it will stretch your dollar. Not ALL products are vegan though.

MAC has a few products which are vegan. Origins which is an organic company also has a selection of vegan products.

These are products that I have used and love, and i use them in my freelance work. It's not expensive ... treat yourself to 1 thing at a time and you're never laying out alot money.

Ok, sorry for such a long post girlies ... Hope this helps out! :) Feel free to drop me a line anytime with questions.

Sorry if I sound totally stupid, but what are parabens?
I emailed E.L.F. a long time ago about they're products and they said almost everything was vegan except a few of the lotions contained glycerin.  I'll be really mad if they weren't being honest with me....

Parabens are a questionable chemical preservative which can act as a hormone disrupter... more info here...

I've been making the makeup review, and I'm using Peta's caring consumer site for makeup, and E.L.F. is obviously not a vegan company, but they don't have any notes about vegan products, or mention anything..so, are they safe to add?

I'll email them again.....I went through all of my makeup last night and looked at the ingredients....the only non-vegan thing I found was Carmine in the mineral blush....so, its very questionable about their veganinity.....I'm sad now.

when I asked elf about their pressed powder, brightening eyeliner, brightening eyeshadows and liquid eyeliner they told me that the brightening eyeliner was not vegan as it may contain ummm can't remember what...carmine maybe?

But anyways, they said that not all their products are vegan (in the UK anyways) but most were - and to email whenever I want to try anything and they will check the batch they have in.  Very helpful theey were.

Alrighty, so I'll add just the brand name/site, and you all can add reviews about different things, and talk about which you've emailed about, and so forth!
