I'm so sold on Morningstar Riblets!!!!

Dudes, I picked up a box of Morningstar Riblets because I'd never seen them before but had heard good things.

THEY ARE AWESOME.

I totally forgot to call MDVegan back after dinner because I was so in love with the riblets I'd eaten. I used to love ribs back in the day, and I hadn't had them in two years.... so I was excited but skeptical.... how could these frozen thingies live up to what I remembered?

SOOOOOO GOOD! The sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy... and the texture is really good, too! Very melt-in-your-mouth.

I want more, but there are only two per box! This is my new "special fancy dinner" staple. Screw my botched stuffed mushrooms... these babies are PERFECT!

I just thought I'd share. Is there anyone else in the world as insanely excited about these as I am? Josh liked them, but he didn't go gaga like I did.

yea... I should try them though.
I think I'm just being stubborn...
afterall, I realized my smart balance has brothers and sisters that have fish in them!  afterall, so nothing can be perfect...
I'll have to try them.  ribs sound sooo good.

;)b  I tried them and they taste a little  better than the GBR.  I tasted them on a recent trip to NC.  My friend and her husband are CARNIVORES to the heart and I needed some veggie meals while I visited.  They are a little pricey though so be prepared to shell out at least $4 for two packs per box.

Seriously, the recipe is way easy and you can ignore that whole grill outside business and just put it back in the oven after flipping for another 10-15 minutes.

Thank you for posting this. These were delish. I shall make them from now on - much, much cheaper.

Girl, I am with you-- I love the riblets too!  :)>>>
I can't get over how great they are-- perfect texture and the sauce is excellent!  My meat-eating, tofu-fearing dad ate a pack and really liked them.  He wanted more, but, alas, I had eaten the other pack in the box.

Ok, you convinced me and I bought a box today.  So, I would like to microwave them.  Is that going to do them injustice?  Is baking necessary?

I've only ever microwaved.  Just use a knife to puncture a hole on each end of the pack.  Place on a plate, cover and microwave on high for 2 minutes.  Flip the pack over, turn the plate 90 degrees and microwave for about 1 minute 40 seconds.  Let it stand for about 3 minutes to cool down before cutting it out of the plastic.

Ok, I baked them tonight and they were much more delicious than when I microwaved them.  :)

Baking is always better!  (so far)

But speed is nice when you are running low on time... or super hungry.

Yeah, I think you get the idea either way...baking seemed to bring out the flavor more.

I'm always too lazy to bake things, if they're frozen.. i feel like since its frozen and i'm hungry now. i want it now!! haha.
I seriously need more patience when it comes to food.

I usually have set dinner times since I'm always running out somewhere after dinner.  So I just threw the ribs in 30 minutes before dinner.  :)  We also have an amazing convection oven, so it makes me more inclined to bake with it...although that's probably the only thing I've baked since I moved here!

I haven't tried the riblets, but I've tried both Boca and MS products. They have so much SODIUM! MS is worse than Boca,  but I might make an exception this once to try the riblets (so many people seem to like them)

BETTER than the Garden Burger.... way better! These aren't even in the same league, but that's my opinion. I always thought the Garden Burgers were just "okay."

The riblets are a tad expensive, but I'm going to eat them for every special occasion I can find/make up!

^-^

In fact, the Morningstar Farms Riblets are identical to what were the Gardenburger Riblets.  Check the nutritional label; there is not one iota of difference.  They are now the same company I believe.  They taste exactly the same because they are exactly the same product.

I am glad to hear that you guys have tried the Morningstar Riblets and have positive feedback! I had been searching for the Gardenburger ones, which I love, and didn't know they were discontinued. I have seen the MS ones in the freezer case, but wasn't sure how good they were..now, I am SUPER excited to try them! YUMM

OKay, I know this is kinda crazy sounding but my boyfriend invented this (or I give him credit, I bet other people have come up with it) but you put the riblets on an Amy's no-cheese vegan pizza (or you can get the no-cheese pizza at Trader Joe's which is EXACTLY the same but much cheaper!) and bake it. OH MAN. SO GOOD. it tastes like a BBQ chicken pizza but better because it's vegan! And tastes better period! Anyway, anyone else do that? And if you try it, tell me what you think! I am an ADDICT.

Hmmmmm. I migh tjust have to try that! I think i have an Amy's pizza hiding for emergencies in the outside freezer. When i need to restock on food (i have soo much right now haha, but it has to be eaten this week anyways!) I'll get some riblets and tell you how it is!
