Kickin Processed foods

Ok, I am sure there is a thread on here somewhere about this so sorry. But I just wanted to start a new one. Anyone out there attempting to cut out processed foods? I have been vegan for awhile, but I realized that I live mostly on store bought packaged foods. Alot of boca chicken patties, veggie burgers, ribblets, tofutti pizza, amy's frozen stuff, tofutti cream cheese and sour cream, soyrizo, veggie dogs, fake cheese, veganaise, ect.....I am kind of tired of the crap, plus it is really expensive. I just never ate alot of veggies, grains or beans, and I feel like my taste buds are corrupted..."real" food just doesn't taste as good. I wish becoming vegan would have changed my habits, but it seems not. I was thinking of trying to do a no processed food fast for like a month to see if I can change that. Anybody have any advice or wanna join me?  :help!:

Here's anouther way I've recently (like in the last month) discovered to kick proccesed foods (and lower my grocery bill):

1. We bought all of our staples at the beggining of the month (flour, sugar, beans, lentils, rice, almond milk, etc) and spent about $100.
2. For the next 4 weeks we are spending $10 a week for produce only (usually off of the "will go bad soon" sale shelf).
Then we are starting back at the beggining next month.

I figure this will cut my monthly grocery bill in half. We are eating alot more fruits and veggies and making healthier meals. I will post next month about how things are going.

I love this idea.. I've been doing something similar (doing a big shopping once every three weeks assuming I'll have to go back periodically and fill in) but I'm going to make an effort to start doing this habitually)It really has cut down on my spending not shopping every week, I'm only tempted to buy things I don't really need ONCE instead of three or four times.  Thanks SaraMonster!

No problem! :)  I had to try something really different than what I was already doing if I wanted to see any sort of real change, it's been kind of exciting so far (in a dorky kind of way).

I think you should go cookbook shopping!!! You have to find one that suits you, but most will nix processed foods.
