Get Your Omega-3's-- from Genetically Modified Pigs?!

Well, here's what my school's world-renowned Food Science program has been churning out...

http://atmizzou.missouri.edu/mar07/OmegaPigs.htm

Trust a Midwest University to try to downplay the health benefits of fish (I realize WE don't eat them, but if you find a good clean source, they're not going to be dripping mercury...) and fail to even both mentioning the easy-to-obtain and CHEAP flax-based sources of Omega-3's-- pigs are just so much more appealing around here... heaven help them if they have to eat plants...

wow that article is such bs... the line about "the ONLY way for humans to realize the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids is by taking dietary supplements or by eating certain types of fish that also contain high levels of mercury" is SOOOOO frustrating.

in actual fact, not only are eggs and fish a good source of omega 3's, flax, hemp, kiwi, chia, shiso, ligonberry, purslane, and sea buckthorn (all edible plants and berries) are good sources as well. how could and even semi-intelligent science writer really neglect all of these healthy and available sources?

GAH!
