Yabbit's Annual Virtual VegWeb BASH!!
Last year I threw a virtual VegWeb party. I know some of you have been able to get together and actually meet, greet and feed together (and boy am I jealous!) but for those of us who can't (and anyone else, of course!)
IT'S THE YABBIT'S SECOND ANNUAL VIRTUAL VEGwEB BASH!!
There will be room for everyone (guess we'd better hold it in a covered Olympic stadium or somewhere!) and there will be separate tables for vegan and ovo/lacto or both dishes. But anyone is free to taste from everything. There will probably be magic floating around so if only one person brings a delicious dish, there will be plenty to go around!
There will be plenty of plugs for crockpots, and a BBQ facility somewhere to handle beanburgers etc. But most of the food should be brought cold. As this is an imaginary feast, money's no object in terms of ingredients! (If you're gonna dream, don't dream small!) Calories?? Who needs 'em! That's the great thing about virtual food!!
This year I think I'll make Willowflower's excellent Tofu with Veggies and Couscous, and the Sweet Potato Chilli. Actually I just made a HUGE pot of that so I have plenty to share. And boy oh boy is it gooood.
Oh, and bring your dogs/cats. That old magic will keep harmony among the different species!

woah, this is such a fantastic idea! I'm surprised no one else has replied yet...
let's see, I really never make anything that's presentable or attractive/creative enough to share with lots of people (because we all know that potlucks are really a contest to see who brings the best stuff ::) haha), and I usually just bring sweets to these kind of events (most often cookies), since that's my specialty.
So, in keeping with my tradition, I will make two batches of The Best Oat Cookies That Ever Existed (from here), one with lots of dried cranberries, and the other with.....um....any suggestions, people? I was thinking apple pie-style, with apple bits and added spice.
Oh, I know! I might bring a big batch of pumpkin soup.....I recently made pumpkin soup for the very first time, and I kind of improvised it, taking a few pointers from recipes on here, of course. People say that those huge carving pumpkins are worthless for cooking...pish posh! Just because they're not as sweet doesn't mean they can't puree up into a tasty, savory, and super-comforting soup! And the pumpkin I used was pretty darn big, 25 lbs or therabouts, so it made a lot!
Zumi is definitely coming with me. Just keep an eye on your food, especially fruit, because she's a sneaky little thing, not to mention a really fast runner.
Bittersweet chocolate muffins w. uber-darkest chocolate chips and maybe raspberries in 'em. :)

I'll be there with Lucid Anne's Lentil Rice Salad and Kick-Ass Molasses Cookies (hmmm, I may have brought them last year, too). I'm leaving our dog here, but like good grandparents everywhere, I'll bring my three grandcats. And bookpapa, of course. I'm sure CeltKat will want to come, too. Perhaps she'll bring some dahl since I'm bringing the lentil rice salad. Yabbit, did you keep the sofa? Will you take it to the venue?
Oh my goddess - today I made the bestest ever potato and pea samosas with a sweet tomato chutney - gather round folks, I made dozens! Hey Zumi! Come back her with that samosa! Cody! Stop chasing her! She's too fast and you'll run into someone! Sigh. Everyone watch your knees.

I'll be there with only two of the kitties, since Micah gets a bit skittish around too many people. I'll bring the chocolate mousse pie (an adaptation of the Chocolate Silk Pie from here).
Simon and Zumi will become fast friends because Simon has never met a stranger, especially a rat ;)

Now, let's see... herbed coleslaw with tahini-mustard dressing, tofu-sour-cream potato salad, mini bean burger nibbles, hummus, garlic-sesame pita chips, mini bagels... what else, what else?!
This is great! I'm bringing vegetable mali kofta with potato stuffed bread MMMMM! My favorite Indian meal! I'll also bring a Michigan favorite--Bell's Brewery beer--and it's vegan!

oh yay! the bookparents are here! And I will gladly help myself to some of that lentil rice salad...I've been meaning to try that out. And molasses cookies! they're tied with my Best Oat Cookies for my #1 favorite kind of cookie!

Okay, since this is a virtual potluck bash, I'm guessing it isn't like, a single, couple-of-hours type event...that it is ongoing, for however long this thread lives, eh? Because I have a feeling that there will be TOO much delicious food that I'll want to try, too much for one sitting, anyway...

I'm not so much of a beer enthusiast, but I do enjoy a good one from time to time. I hope you have some Bell's Oktoberfest! I tried that recently and pretty much lurved it.
hmm...so I've got a bottle of Bell's in one hand, and Heliamphora is filling up a wine glass in my other hand (I'll take a Merlot, if you've got some. thanks!)....looks like this is gonna be a fun time!
heck, I honestly don't even drink that much anymore, but this is a special occasion. I think I can allow myself to get a little tipsy....
and hey, once my drunkeness wears down, I'll have the drunk munchies, so I can go back to the dessert table! weeeee!

Carrot_Wench--Bell's is a wonderful beer! And I'm so lucky I live in Michigan--we get the first batch of all the seasonal beers as soon as they come down from K-Zoo! Beer is always better when it is fresh and cold! I'm glad your BF is joining us too! The more the merrier, right gang!
i will be bringing Drezlyn, my princess of a cat, along with a batch of delicious brownies ( a recipe i have yet to post here), plenty of zinfandel, and a huge platter of the best sandwich in the world (avocado and heirloom on bread with margarine).
i too plan on getting the drunk munchies and staying up until dawn, so somebody had better bring tofu scram and some homefries for breakfast. i'll take care of the mimosas.
oh, and former astrophysicist that i am, i will lead a stargazing walk through the surrounding fields. be sure to put red cellophane over your flashlights, science geeks!

Oh, yeah, that sofa is definitely "on the menu!" Gotta have someplace to hang out! (It's a wonder the number of folks that sofa will hold, too!)
Gotta get some music going, troops. Heliamphora, some of that zinfandel here, please. (What would happen if I dunked my brownie in zinfandel?? I'se gonna find out raht quick!)
