From sad happenings came vegan dessert

A few weeks ago my uncle was in a serious motorcycle accident that resulted in severe head trauma and facial fractures.  I was upset to say the least since I was in Texas and the accident happened back home in Michigan and I didn't think I'd be able to go home since I'd only been at my job a little over 2 months and didn't have any personal or vacations days.  I'd received a call from my brother-in-law on Saturday night after it happened and Monday while I was at work my sister called saying things weren't looking good for my uncle because the swelling and bleeding were getting worse.  So I'm sitting at my desk crying when my manager walks by on her way to the filing area behind my desk.  She asks what's wrong and I tell her.  Immediately she tells me that it's OK if I fly home.  I come back to work the following Monday to find that all my work had been done for me during my absence (which I'd never experienced at any job before).

So how does vegan dessert fit in to all of this you ask.......as a big thank you to all the women for helping me out I made them Chef Lindsay's plagiarized Chocolate Peanut Butter Layer bars.  It was a big hit, they all loved them and thought they tasted like candy.  I can't tell you enough how great this group of women I work with are.  I can tell you with certainty that I'll be spoiling them a lot with delicious vegan goodies.

As far as my uncle....he's starting to come out of the coma he was in.  It's too early to tell what effects the accident will have had on him.  He's moving his arms and legs and will answer questions by nodding or shaking his head.  He can't speak because of the traceostomy (sp?) but once he's more fully awake that will be coming out.  All in all I'm staying positive and hopeful that things will work out for him.

As Sampson said, "Out of the strong came forth sweetness." You're being very strong, and your sweetness is evident, not only through your cooking.
