people who don't like water...

when i tell people that i don't drink soda a lot of them tell me that they don't like water. i'm i the only one that finds that absolutely nuts-o? like how can you not like water? it keeps you alive and it doesn't even taste like anything! and since they don't like it, that implies that they barely drink it, so leads me to believe that they're barely living. i want to shake people like that and give them a reality check.  :)>>>

I used to be one of those people.  I mostly drink water now, and I like it fine, but I had to make myself get used to it.

i think it is nuts, too. i am like: but, but,.. it doesn't taste like anything?

that being said, i am rarely ever hydrated enough because i forget to drink.

oh! I completely agree with everything you've said!

I drink water constantly (and thus have to pee often) and people think I'M the nutso one. but I just have to shake my head and tell them that keeping hydrated is one of the best and easiest things you can do for your overall health.

...this reminds me of a girl I knew at summer camp...a lot of kids didn't drink enough water throughout the day, even though all the counselors tried to remind them all the time. When you visited the nurse's office, almost every case was met with "Drink more water!" because dehydration was often the problem...
...This one girl threw a mad fit one day because she felt sick and our counselor was trying to get her to drink water. She refused because "it tastes gross!" and she "ONLY drinks Pepsi!!" (we had "canteen privileges" for a short time every day, and that's apparently the only time she drank anything  ::) )  She cried and cried, and our counselor just gave her this look of disinterest, saying "You're only going to get more dehydrated that way."  ;D

My mom hates water!  She drinks diet soda by the 2 liter though and wonders why she's put on so many pounds.  I've tried to tell her but she just won't listen!

Water is "life".  The more you drink, the better you feel. ;)b

I'm a water fearer....no joke...ask anyone who's been on the boards for a while. It makes me miserable, my lips are alwasy dry, my skin is dry and my pee is the color of apple juice... I like water sure, but I just cant bring myself to drink it....I know how good  is for me, but... :'(

my water intake is like this:

grande coffee about 5 times per week
a sip of water from the drinking fountain while I'm at school
6-8 oz of water when I get home
and 6-8 oz around dinner time, if i can manage it.
and another sip of water before bed.

I know for a fact most of my fluid intake comes from fruits and veggies....Ive tried different methods to get myself to drink more one of the best one is to wear a camel pack and just take a sip here and there...I think i got up to 30 oz a day with that method at one point....but lately...nope, not happening. It also helps if i ether buy of make electrolyte enhanced water.

Oh, and i don't drink soda or juice or anything else.

i do that, i have a gigantic water bottle that i take to school and without noticing i just drink from it constantly. before i was a vegan i used to only drink coke and it took some getting used to drinking water (i know coke isn't unvegan, but i was trying to be healthy) but after you get used to it, you feel AWESOME. trust me.

Ditto. It's amazing to me how little I used to drink. I only drink water now..and drink quite a bit. Now, I can feel it ANYTIME I need some/more water. I feel it in my throat and head.

I don't really like water.  Drinking it is kind of a chore for me.

mee too, KMK.
i am *always* dehydrated, my bloodwork even gets all screwy just from not drinking enough!!

and its funny, a few years ago, i used to *literally* drink 10lbs of water a day!  I used to refill gatorade bottles, so i knew how much i was drinking. Now, im lucky if i get a bottle down a day (and thats only been the last few weeks b/c ive been sick!)

Water does have a taste to me. Regionally, tap water is very different. Also, public water vs. well water is a different taste.

I don't like water unless it is so cold that it's almost ice. Other than that, not a fan.

Oh yeah!  Water so cold that it's getting slushy is the BEST!

I drink about 64 ounces of water while I'm at work and usually another 32 once I get home.  I don't drink teas or soda until after I've had all my water for the day.  That works for me.

Ok, so I can TOTALLY/ABSOLUTELY relate to all of you water haters/non-drinkers (don't getmadatme, KMK..), BUT...if you are at all wanting to change your water drinking ways (or not)..let me tell you what to do..

I also used to think drinking water was a chore. I hated it, didn't really do it..water kind of grossed me out. I only drank water with ice, and found it extremely odd when people just drank...water. Then, P kind of made me start drinking water. I would NEVER, EVER drink tap water back in TX (and definitely don't recommend that..), but whatever water you find easiest to drink...just start slowly. Make yourself drink 3-4 tall glasses (~16 oz) a day, to start. Count it, keep track of it, write it down..If you continue to do this, and then increase..you WILL get used to it. You won't be able to not do it. I promise. I feel so much better now that I drink water. I just fill up my glass from the tap..and drink. Now, I'm like the weird person who just drinks...water. But, really..water....it's a good thing. I really don't mean that in the Martha Stewart way.

I drink water and alcohol.

And an occasional cup of tea.

I think some of it depends on how your local water tasted as a kid. My brother lives in a tiny rural Iowa town where the water is full of something called "vegetable gas" (???) which means it stinks when it comes out of the tap and if you make cubes with it, they make your drink cloudy. I can understand how kids who grow up there hate water, tea, coffee etc.

And I suppose if like my sister you drink soda for preference during your whole adult life, plain water does taste "boring." No bubbles, no acid, no chemicals.

Living as I do in such a hot place, there is nothing better than clean, cold water straight out of the fridge. Except maybe a well-pulled beer from a cold keg in a saltwater tank.

I love water but I find it hard to remember to drink enough every day - that's all it is, forgetting!
Easier to drink with a drop of lemon or orange juice (only a drop though)...I can guzzle that by the bucketload :D

My blood comes out like sludge if they can get it at all...I just don't seem to get thirsty so I don't think to drink, I am always dehydrated. I drink coffee or tea in the morning and take pills or supplements with water and actually try to drink water if I remember. I do not like flavored drinks like soda or flavored waters so I would not drink them just for the taste...ewwww.  I prefer water..I just don't think of it.  After typing this I have decided to make a conscience effort today to drink more.

Btw, when I was visiting my mother in Florida I unknowingly tasted their water...believe me some water has a taste and it can be disgusting!
