NVR my faux woodburning stove arrived

and it is cute.  The flames are nice and the heat is nice and it has a remote control.  I got on ebay and found a CD of fireplace sounds which I will order and use with a portable CD player hidden in the faux mantel I am going to build (I bought power tools to do this house up and I am running out of things to use them on).  I am going to build the mantel over a rolling microwave cart I bought at the second hand store and make more like a faux fireplace, but on wheels.  I am looking for some pressed wood cutouts to tart it up a bit.  It puts out heat, but it is really about ambience, not so much warmth.

The nice part is, that if I just want the "flames" it costs about 2 cents an hour which means it is electricity friendly and better for the environment because it doesn't cut down trees. I love trees and I think it is awful to burn something that provides us with oxygen and so much beauty.  Call it the artist in me.

Congratulations on your new stove. I hope you have many happy cooking adventures with it.

Congrats on your tree-friendly stove.  My friend built a mantle, and trim all around, out of some carved wood planks she found at a antique shop.  It turned out really nice.

I bought one last year because I saw one at my neighbours and loved it.  The heat that comes from it is amazing. Nothing cuter than seeing 4 cats and one dog curled up around my little fake wood burning stove.  I love it as is, so just sit it in my room.  It is black and looks like it is cast iron.  Usually there are really only three cats around it, one on top (OK, sometimes two cats on top and two on the floor) of it and a dog curled up with the cats.  Flame only is wonderful too.  I lucked into buying the model from the previous year and there was only one left so I got is at about 75% off.
Enjoy yours.  They are cute and practical as I can turn the heat way down in my livingroom/diningroom and use the heat from the little stove. Way cheaper!

Yay! Exciting! :) Perfect timing with fall right around the corner! :)
Fall's my favorite season! Everything that has to do with it is cozy. :)

does it actually produce heat? that's awesome. I'm looking for a space heater - would something like a fake wood stove be a practical choice. I love the idea of having a cozy cast iron stove in the corner...

did I say awesome? let me say it again... awesome :)

Crappy Tire sells them and yes, great heat.  They should be in the stores soon.  Watch for sales and if you are lucky, you will get one of last years models really cheap.  Mine was bigger than I thought I could afford because it was the previous years model.
They really are a space heater with a little fake wood burning stove around them.  I sat in front of my neighbours a few years ago and nearly burned my bum!  :)
The heat generated from them is amazing and most models, you can adjust the heat.  My pets all love it, as do I.

P.S.  For all non Canadians, Crappy Tire is the name most of us affectionally call Canadian Tire.
