Roll Call!

Edit.  The following intro is a bit old.  I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years.  Just couldn't be worked out.  I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now.  I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!!  Woot!

Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous!  I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.

I deleted my Myspace page.  I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name.  Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.

Edit #3 - Finally went vegan.  The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners.  I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets.  I'm loving it!  Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore.  LOL  I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate.  I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.

Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor.  I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job.  w00t

It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself.  I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years????  But I don't know a lot of you.

I am a nurse.  I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".)  I am gay.  I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.

I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.

I have a very boring blog here:

You're turn.  Tell me your business!

Hello, I'm Caitlin but you can call me Caitee. This month is my veg-anniversary so i have technically been a vegan for a year now! I'm 15 years old which makes me a youngin' but I'm pretty mature and fun :). I love to read, write, hang out, learn, exercise, be weird, and all of those good things. I've been an animal lover since before i can remember and have always wanted to be a vegetarian. i basically woke up one day and decided that i was done putting rotting flesh in my system. i LOVE coffee and adore tea. It's fun meeting new people and making friends from all over the place. Especially friends whom you can share yummy vegan scones etc. with and not be told "it tasted vegan, uggh, vegan? etc. lol. Politically, i'm a liberal-anarchist mix. I'm not religious or straight edge but i'm not a bad kid either. That's basically it for now! Any questions, comments, concerns, message or wave hello me :)

Oh, great! I'm a newbie here, too!

My name is Jeanette, I'm a 23 (to-be 24 on friday! yay birthdays!) year old brand-new vegetarian. As in, my boyfriend suggested it last week and I said "HOORAY!"

I moved to Baton Rouge, LA six months ago, but I grew up in West Virginia and have traveled a fair amount in my young adulthood. I love to see new places, take pictures, and visit friends and family. I'm an assistant manager for a video game store, which isn't really a very nice job at all. Retail sucks a lot. As soon as my boyfriend graduates college next year (and hopefully soon after we'll get married), I am totally quitting and finding something that takes less time and is more enjoyable. People make otherwise nice occupations a pain.

That said, I do like people, and I love learning about those who have different experiences than me. I have a MySpace page at and you're welcome to add me! Just send me a message so I know you're not a porn bot.  ;D

I love purple. Love it. If I ever forget to make my text purple, you can bet I'll go back and modify it when I realize I didn't do it. Purple is the most splendiforous color ever, in any shade or tone.  :)

This site is great! I feel like there's a lot of support for me in being completely new to the vegetarian lifestyle, and of course, being an awful cook. Thanks to everyone for already making me feel so welcome!

Ahhh I loooooove Purple too!!!!  It's the best :D

Mahalo everyone, I'm new too!

My name is Lesly & I've been using Vegweb for years as a recipe resource. Not until I realized how stunningly awesome it would be to use  the meal planner/recipe box option did I decide to join.
I'm 20 & Virgo.
I have been Veg*n since 14, Vegan since 16. I hail from Memphis, TN & currently am taking temp. residency in the Arkansas delta with my  omni boyfriend/fiance/partner in mischief. We live with 4 cats, 2 rats, a turtle & a dog. I'm working towards becoming a Nurse/Midwife & am planning a move to Asheville, NC early next year.

I love traveling anywhere (most of the time) but have only just begun my international adventures (England, Ireland,Wales in 2005, hoping for Guatemala in 2008 or 09). I love baking sweets & reading books (but not simultaneously). I heart camping, hiking  & spending time outdoors.

I LOVE  all kinds of music but am crazy about PHISH. I also love bento & will start posting on the Flickr Vegan bento group soon!!

Oh one last thing-Dinkfeet thanks for explaining the name, I thought you were ref. to that old Nick show The Adventures of Pete&Pete "Once a dink, always a dink"  :D

Oh Hi!  I wanted to introduce myself too!
I'm 30 years old and I grew up in Philadelphia.  I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now.  My screen name comes from my double major in college (Biology and Dance).  I could never choose between art and science and it's given me a chance to work in many different fields (theater production, hand therapy, and now environmental consulting).  I loooove cooking and I'm on vegweb multiple times a day.  I love theater, dance, reading and hanging out with my cat.  ;D

Hello everyone,

My name is Richard and am 34 years old and I have been a veg*n now for the second time for about a year or so, gradually phasing into veganism with time. I grew up in England and have been in the US for about 5 years now. Started out in Columbus OH and then moved to Chicagoland where I now live with my wife, who is a vet (animal kind not Vietnam kind!) my dog Sparky and the two cats Melbie and Foo. I work as a Production Control Manager in the automotive industry is it exciting, no, do I want to do it for the rest of my life, no. In fact I am boring myself just talking about it so I will stop!

I hate the winter here in Chicago and would really love to move to the warmer states.

Sure why not.

My name is Amanda, and I was born and bred in New Jersey until I came to Europe nearly 8 years ago, and have been happily residing here since then, with no plans to go back.  I spent 5 years in Brussels, and nearly 3 here in Amsterdam.  I work from home, so life is pretty effin sweet right about now.

I am just getting started on my animal rights crusade, and am planning on many protests around Europe.  There are certainly enough to choose from!  After nearly 13 years of vegetarianism, I have finally gone back to veganism, and this looks like I'll be staying here from now on, thankyouverymuch.  I don't know what I did wrong the first time, but it was such an effort and my energy was shot.  This time, I'm doing it proper, and it couldn't be any easier!  I don't even have to think about it, I just do it.

I live with my 2 dogs- Lola and Mylo- and my Irish boyfriend, who has quietly gone from omnivore to pescatarian on me!  I can't take credit for that, though.  He must have seen something amongst my books and videos to make him think twice, and next thing you know he's buying tofu products in the supermarket!  You can rant and rave at people all you want, but they move at their own pace.

I've been a member of vegweb since 2003 or 2004, but remember when they made some changes and erased all of our profiles in about 2005?  Yeah, thats about when I dropped the ball on vegweb.  I found my old profile recently, from when I made a half-hearted attempt to get back into it in 2005:;u=47544  How's that for a cheese smile!!!

I still have loads of things on my 'To Do with My Life' list, but for right now, this looks like it's it for the moment, and that's OK by me.

You won't see me too often on the forums, but I'll be watching you people!  Oh YES!  I WILL be watching you....(Wayne's world)

You can watch me too:

hmm, cant believe i never posted in this thread...well here it goes

Im Adam, 29 years old when Im not acting 12 (in good and bad ways) and I live in San Diego...and yes...its always sunny here

When Im not slaving for the man in a room full of servers,  Im playing drums in bands. Musics not paying the bills, but its keeping me from hiding out in the mountains or blowing up congress. Seriously though, I have it better than many I try not to complain too much.

Outside of music Im a man of leisure. I like to go out all night with friends howling at the moon, and sit around during the day and read or write or endulge whatever fancy I have that day. I think people stress themselves out way too much with alot of BS

Went vegitarian a few years back and went full vegan as of Jan 1 of this year. I cant remember how I found this site, but I am very glad I did. Great recipes, great people.

I love nature and animals, and when I see animal cruelty I get so upset it makes me want to scream and cry. Its too bad it took me so long to keep supporting such things. The benefits of being more aware of what Im putting into my body is a wonderful benefit of this as well.

I guess you could describe me as an angry hippy, who tries to keep the angry side at bay as much as possible

Hey everybody.
My name's Lindsey. I come from Upstate New York originally, but have been all over the place in my 25 years of life. I am a straight, married female. I was a vegetarian for 2 years, and I was so good that I was almost vegan, but I don't know what happened- maybe bacon- that i went back to eating meat. I don't eat much meat and would like to go back to my almost vegan diet.  I am pretty healthy, with the exception of chronic respiratory infections, migraines and stomach aches- the last two are a food problem and I should know to control that. Don't know why I get respiratory infections, I got bronchitis from not treating the last one- bad idea. I like this site because it makes it easy for me to get vegetarian recipes and ideas, so that when I finally do get back to where I started, it won't be that hard to keep it up PERMANENTLY.

As for the rest of me: I work at a daycare. I don't have kids, but I'd like to and I also don't have any furbabies, but I'd like to. I had a cat for 16 years, but unfortunately she had a stroke and I had to put her to sleep :(
I like reading, poetry (writing it, collecting, reading), nature, stuff that is odd or funny and I collect cookbooks, lots of them, it's scary how many I have. I also like doing boring stuff like watch tv and surf the Internet.  That's me in a nutshell.

Hi there. My name is Davetta and I am 35. I currently reside in Riverton, Wyoming with my husband and 2 children. I am applying for grad school here soon. I will be taking my GRE next month. Hopefully, I will have a PHD in sociology by the time I am 43? I suppose I am growing up..... finally. However, my first few years after highschool, I took a different path. It was a long, windy road, but I have learned much about life and have lived and experienced different perspectives. I am now 100% vegan and love good vegan food. Besides getting bent out of shape about humanity, injustices, and coorapate manipulation.........I like to hike, camp, canoe, read great fiction novels, stretch, do yoga, laugh, and as of late check vegweb everyday. ;D

My name is Catriona and I live in Scotland where the sun most definitely does not shine every day.  I'm 51 and went back into education after being at home with my four girls for around 16 years.  Before that I had been a midwife and before that a bilingual secretary (but couldn't cope with being stuck in a office all day).  Having decided to go to college for a year to learn to use a computer properly, I forgot to stop learning and am now entering the third year of a PhD in contemporary economic history (don't let your eyes glaze over - I'm not going into details - I know it's only anoraks who like this stuff!!)  It's focus is Germany so I have to travel there quite a lot for archival research - mainly Koblenz and Berlin but also Heidelberg and Aachen in the coming months.  I must say though that since I found this site my workrate has dropped considerably - what a brilliant displacement activity.  I am largely veggie (even vegan) though not quite all the way there.  This diet though has helped me lose a lot of weight since January and absolutely painlessly too.  I simply cannot believe how much better and healthier I feel as a consequence.  I've long been a decryer of intensive livestock farming techniques and having read 'Not on the Label' and 'Plant Based Nutrition and Health' has simply transformed the way I feel about food, ethics and life in general.

I'm married to John, very happily, for the last 25 years and we sail - the boat is ours - when we can and I also enjoy kayaking and hill walking though latterly haven't done much of either, having damaged both left knee and left elbow - I am now fully expecting to go deaf in my left ear!  Other pursuits when I get time are traditional music, choir, reading and socialising with a lovely bunch of mainly eccentric (but all the best people are) friends.  Two rescue dogs - Bonnie (9) hyper-intelligent collie cross and Paddy (3) hound crossed with goodness knows what, not intelligent at all but full of love.  He also has a considerable amount of neuroses owing to the bad treatment he received before he came to us - particularly about feet - not sure if we'll ever get him over that

I'm vegetarian, working towards vegan. It's been fun thumbing around this site. I'm not a cook and as an over-the-road I have few opportunities to try anything anyway but the internet is like chew gum, something to do when theres nothing to do.

My name is Natasha. I'm a 22 year old college student. I have been a vegetarian for 9 years and a vegan for only a few months. I live in Massachusetts, but go to school in New York. I have a cat named Noodles. I love cooking, especially baking, and am very interested in learning to make different kinds of vegan desserts. When I was only an ovo-lacto vegetarian, I made amazing cheesecake, so I would love to find a vegan cheesecake recipe that is just as good.

I'm Ann, I'm 22, and I live in Madison, WI.  I graduated in May with a degree in social work and women's studies.  I'm currently an ovo-lacto, doing a lot of vegan cooking, and trying to figure out if I can commit to going fully vegan.  I love animals, although I'm terrified of birds  :o I don't have any pets here, but my parents have a small menagerie (2 dogs, 5 cats).  I usually don't really post much here, but I'm around a lot!

Hi friends!

The name is Tammy. I'm a newly wed in the Cleveland Ohio area. After looking around on the internet for advice on a lifestyle change, I've very recently decided to cut animal products out of my diet. This is proving to be very difficult since I have no support from anyone vegan or vegitarian.

I have two wonderful pet cats, Jinx and n00bie. I also have quite a few outside creatures that venture onto my porch for nibbles, and they get them. They're all my furry babies and I love them.

The thing that mostly inspired this lifestyle change would be my apartment managment. After creating a bond with all of my outdoor furry babies, they started putting traps out and I started seeing more and more how "people" treat these small, defensless animals. It got me to start researching Ohio animal rights laws and other things. That's when I noticed that there are very few, or not enough depending on how you'd look at it.

So my diet change is to be a healthier, more productive person in society. I knwo I wouldn't wnt to spend my life being tortured only to be murdered. And no living being should have to live through that pain.

Hey!  My name is Matt.  I live in a small town in central New York called Little Falls.  I am a senior at Union College double majoring in economics and history and currently in the middle of writing two thesis (FUN!).  About two months ago I woke up and decided I should be a vegan.  After a few days I recruited my sister to change also.  Everything is easier when you have someone going through the same thing you are to talk to.  ANYWAYS, as for why I turned to veganism, like I said I just woke up and decided I should give it a try.  I was eating steak the night before.  No regrets here.  My parents don't understand, my friends don't understand, everyone I know doesn't understand, but I don't really care.  I feel healthier, happier, and just enjoying life.  After I graduate from school I want to start my own company because I don't envision myself working on anyone else's schedule, just need to find the right people to get all that started with.  But yea, ummmm that's just a little bit about me!

hey matt-- represent upstate NY!! (i've heard of little falls even!) i'm in ALB

Ok I'll play.

I'm Alli, and I'm a veggie-newb. I guess you could say ovo-lacto because, well, I tried soy milk today and let me tell you, the "milk" part in the name is a lie. It tasted to me like the water they soak the soybeans in, dyed white. I was sad and tried to fix it with nesquik but that didn't work. I was quite disapointed, and thinking if it tasted enough like milk I'd start drinking it but nay, I can't say I could find it an aquired taste either. (So I bought real chocolate milk to make me feel better.)

I was raised in southern Louisiana, I'm Cajun, and as far as I know red beans and rice is the only vegetarian dish in cajun cuisine, and even then it probably has bacon grease in the beans. I'm currently living in Canada and going veggie for health. Been doing it a week and lost two pounds so far.

I'm married, no kids, and a graphic designer.

Alli, if you didn't like the flavor of soymilk there are lots of other "milks" out there to try--rice, almond, oat, and others. Give one of those a try. However, don't ever expect any of it to taste like dairy milk. Remove that idea from your head entirely and judge them on their own merits. You may find one of those you like, just for itself. If you like almonds, that might be a good one to start with.  :)
Welcome to VegWeb!

yeah, that didn't take long reading all the posts  ::)
I'm 24, bordering on 25, recently moved and married and freaking out before my final exams. unemployment ahead of me, I studied British, American and African Studies, all I can do is read..

I am a food geek, I know which vitamin is in which vegetable, but despite that I prefer a cookie to any vegetable IN THE WORLD!!
I also like: peanut butter, food and other blogs, messageboards with profiles, good songs, rain, and cupcakes. i'm vegan. representing europe!
