Who is going to California in August?

Stop pussyfooting around.  I want to know who all is going besides the 10 people who have said they are.
Katie and I are planning on going, but we may also use this time as vacation time, i.e. we may be spending about a week or so there.  We want to know what all there is to see in lovely San Francisco and we probably want to hang out with you, too. ;)

I already know about Millennium...anything else we would need to check out?

BTW - I'm officially not going to be there.  I'm put to shame a bit by that since I'm already in-state.  However, I think/plan/hope to be on the East Coast in June 2010.

This October is no good, but I'm usually in the Bay Area every October.  October 2010 I plan on meeting pinkerbell.  I usually take the 5 up, but I could drive by way of coastline and see you, too.

i'm in town for a conferance that weekend. things are up in the air re: what i'm doing with that and what is going on with this, so  ??? things will be figured out when they are figured out. i guess. i should figure out what hotel i'm at for my conferance.

Up in the air about what's going on with the meetup? What is?

I'm sending out emails soon to those who have registered, with details..or ideas about details.

Ftr, it's not up in the air if it's happening, or not. At least, P and I are going to be there (for a few days?), and KMK.

I'm always 45 minutes away from San Francisco. Anyone coming to California should for sure visit Sonoma County, it's beautiful here!

i think a lot of us post on both, unfortunately. i have no idea if any exclusively ppkers are going/if we want them to? i don't feel like i am one that could give a yes or no.

They should register if they want to come.  It can't be a free-for-all if we want it to have some order to it in terms of planning and things.

What's unclear?  We have a bulk of it planned in terms of venue and things like that.  If you are unsure about things then you should ask.

I was checking plane tickets last week and I was so excited because they were like $230 round trip but I didn't buy them because I didn't have any specific plans for once I got there besides on the 8th. But I just checked and they already went up to $300. blah. I want to go but I need to get tickets asap so I need to figure out what to do while I'm there!

Why?! Why do you need specific plans? Just to decide how long you want to be there? I say grab those babies up if they are already rising in price.

As much as I'd love to come, I really can't justify the enourmous plane journey and such an amount of time off work.
So please can everyone stop talking about it and can I pretend it isn't happening (ok, so I might just be the teensiest bit jealous of the fun time y'all will be having)

Come on.  What's a thousand bucks in air faire to do lunch?

I was looking at prices for flights to Boston for my friends' June 2010 wedding.  If I buy them way ahead of time, they're $100.  I'm definitely headed to stalk bp.  After that I wanted to drive around.

Can you take rental cars out of the state in which they are rented on the east coast?  It'd almost seem like they'd have to have different rules there with the states being so tiny.

Anyway, I wanted to take a road trip to Asheville because I can't get my head wrapped around hippiness and skyscrapers.  In CA, hippie towns are pretty homogeneous.  This is where you come in, ck.   You're only something like four hours from Asheville and plane tickets are half the price from near you than from Asheville.

Assuming that I'm not laid off in the meantime, making me destitute,  I want to do the rounds.  I'm not sure when my friend will have a firm wedding date.  They're kind of lax planners.  If they wait too long the ticket prices may be so high that I won't be able to afford my big adventure.  Here's hoping that they're on it.

eta:  I just noticed the ad on travelocity.  It's for gay and lesbian friendly vacation spots in Europe.  Do ads look at browser history or something or was it just random chance?

You were looking at SF....the GAYEST city in the USA...so it probably took a chance you'd be open to other GBLT travel spots.  LOL

I bought Milk a couple of weeks ago and am just now going to watch it (in, like, 30 seconds).  Afterwards I'm loaning it to my very Catholic, pro-seperate and unequal friend.  She heard it explains why SF is a gay mecca.  I'm stoked she's willing to watch *gasp* a gay-themed movie  - being that I have a hundred gay (e.g., Boy Culture) / gay-themed (e.g., Philadelphia) movies and she's never wanted to borrow one before.

I just finished it.  I loved the James Franco/Sean Penn chemistry and the hope that Harvey Milk generated.
