This will probably sound like a dumb question...but I was just wondering how to make rice flour. I mean do you have to cook the rice before you grind it? thanks.

Many years ago I used to make brown rice flour. In my heady, self sufficient days when I hand ground all the flour I used, with a Corona hand mill (no relation to the delicious fizzy stuff), and bake all my bread. No, lunafey, the rice is definitely not cooked prior to grinding. What will you be grinding the rice with? I have used brown rice flour in bread (very small amounts, due to the absence of gluten) and added it to rolled oats when making porridge. Anyone else know other uses for it?
