Official California Potluck Logisitics Thread (PLEASE READ)
Hi everyone,
As co-chair of the invitation committee for the 2009 California Potluck (aka Sconefest) I need the following info from everyone interested in attending:
Would you be available to attend on August 8th, 2009?
If not, when would you be available? Be as specific as possible and limit yourself to August, please.
I know that it's a year away, but we need to start gauging level of interest and commitment now in order to plan effectively. Otherwise, next summer will roll around and no one will know what's going on. Just trying to prevent mass chaos/anarchy/tears/hurt feelings/wasted money.

i would like to say that anyone would be welcome to stay in san luis with me if they are coming to ca at a certain time... i am like a 3 hour drive to base's house. of course, i don't have a car, but of others drove or wanted to rent one or something...
we could have people stay at hesp's and my places, and the slo'ers could stop in santa cruz for a quick break, and then we could caravan up, or something like that
how many people are we looking at here? are we going to need to rent a space to house everyone? or like, just one big dinner at millennium or something?

We are still in planning mode! Really, people can stay wherever they want!
Make it known if you are wanting to stay with someone..and we can go from there. We have 17 on the tentative head count, so far.
We do want to do a potluck, right? I mean..that was the thing we were going to do, but maybe we don't have to do that. Since a lot of people will be traveling..it might be easier to just do something different. Maybe we could all cook dinner together one night? Brainstorm!

I just found out that teacher workdays start on Aug. 10, so it's gonna be cutting it close for me. The more I've been thinking about it, the more I'm diggin the idea of coming out there. So, yeah, if the finances are there and I can get a flight back on the 9th, I'm totally there.

It doesn't have to be just or mainly the 8th. I'm sure some people will be there before that...if they are making a few days out of the trip. I think we just need a date (the 8th) so that we can all plan to be there, then. But, you could probably see quite a few people (maybe?) before the 8th, too........if you had to be back..before then. Ya know?

That woould be fun! Colleen Patrick-Goudreau won't be far from us either. She lives in Oakland. I wonder if she'll be having any vegan events when we're gathered for the California Potluck.

As long as I don't have a practicum site that wants me to start during the summer, I could go. I love Cali. I love VWers. And vegan food.
I won't *officially* know until like, end of March, though, when we choose our practicum sites.... unless we don't get any offers and then the site choosing drags on throughout the summer... eh. Let's not go there.

It's in SF? That would be so cool to meet people and be at a huge vegan-fest! Is committing closer to the date ok too?
I would also be coming from the LA area. Hopefully I'll have a car again by then, but not counting on it. Trains are nice =)
