Let's talk about it! Europe sounds amazing, but I don't know how feasible that is, for us.
I like the idea of Chicago, Portland, NYC, or maybe Austin. I'm pretty open at this juncture.
eta: I can't decide b/w Portland and Chicago! I voted for Portland..I want to know who else did!
yes, Greenville is very close-like one hour or so away. Allegient air is the discount airline. There is an Asheville airport but its pretty expensive (but not always!). Charlotte is about 1:45 away....and you can get some good deals. I hear Air Tran is flying into AV now.
Just A quick question: Why not Kansas? its like in the middle of everything... (no I don`t live in Kansas, just wondering)
I think we want to pick a very veggie friendly area that is convenient too

Yes yes!! And fun, with good airports to fly into and adequate lodging/eating facilities! :-) When do you all think we'll decide where the 2010 meet-up will be??

I dunno. I haven't been able to think about it due to monies. ..and other situations. :hrmm:
Well what kind of meeting place were you looking for? A vegan restaurant, park or what?
jmr, in short all of the above.... This year's was in San Francisco, and was a 3 day event, involving socializing, sightseeing and, of course, vegan eats and treats.

Seconded! I want it to be someplace ammmazzing that I haven't been to yet. DH is already down with me; A) leaving him at home for the weekend (he's not veg) and B) spending the money to go and have a GREAT time.
Oh yeah I'd go to NC Raleigh. greensburo, durham, wintson-salem anywhere!! ;)
I love the idea of Asheville! I have been there personally and was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of the people as well as the variable veg friendly options. The city was progressive with a mix of eclectic shops and thriving thriving music/ activist scenes. One of my favorite places to visit in Asheville would have to be Rosetta`s Kitchen they have an amazing selection of vegan options and even more amazing food. I found a website on the Asheville vegan population that may be able to provide more info : www.ashevilleveg.com.
PS: I read something about the town having a free people's market every Sunday. Perhaps, if the meet-up is held there attendees could bring zines/art/ crafts to sell at the market to help defer some of the traveling costs. I just love the thought of a massive vegtastic extravaganza! 8)
I chose Portland! I'm a college student in Walla Walla, Washington, and Portland's really the only place I could make it to (I could probably swing Seattle, but it's way behind in the votes!). Portland is such a great place to have something like that, the culture is perfect for it. Hope I can be there!
I voted for NYC, because it's close (three hours). But I can swing Ashville. If I ever get to fly west, though, I am not coming back here!!!
I voted Vancouver because that's close to home and I'm broke, but I just remembered Ursula Vernon lives near Raleigh, and I would totally be down with meeting her, so I have no problem with Asheville.
