Tangy Baked Beans

What you need: 

1 to 2 tablespoons oil or vegan butter
1 medium onion, diced
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
3 rounded tablespoons yellow prepared mustard
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
2 (16 ounce) cans beans, rinsed and drained
1 (16 ounce) can vegan "pork and beans", undrained

What you do: 

1. Saute onions in oil until translucent, then sprinkle onions with some of the sugar and cook until caramelized.
2. Put the onions, sauce ingredients, spices and beans into a slow cooker and gently stir until combined.
3. Cook on high for 3 to 4 hours or low for 6 to 8. Adjust seasonings before serving.

followed the recipe exactly. was so delicious! we had it with oven baked potatoes and homemade veggie burgers. my hubby loved it so much, he had just the beans. thank you! :)>>>
