What you need: 

3 cups cooked garbanzos
3 cloves garlic (or more)
6 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne
3 teaspoon cumin
4 teaspoon dill
1 teaspoon sugar

What you do: 

I just blend it all together with bean liquid as needed & adjust seasonings to taste. My recipe also suggests some tahini or sesame oil. You can add a few drops if you like the flavor. I've tried it both ways.

I just made this and it is marinating in the fridge so that the garlic taste is really immersed.
I didn't add tahini, but instead used a bit of flaxseed oil and olive mayonnaise to make it a bit creamy.

Tastes lovely, and I can't wait to dig in!


Hummus-making is made easier if you have a good immersion blender (the kind of blender that's at the end of a plastic wand).  Then you can move it around and "mash" the hard-to-blend and stiff garbanzo beans.  It's worth the investment if you make hummus a lot.  It's also good for blending soups and sauces.


This was absolutely delicious.  And super easy!  You do need to make sure to add the juice from the beans, or it won't blend right.
I was in the mood for a extra spice, so I added extra Cumin.
I will be making this often now.


is it best to use fresh dill for this? i have to try this recipe after all the rave reviews!


You should change the name to "The Best Hummus in the World"!  I wasn't sure about the dill but in the end that's what gave it the best flavor. Thanks for sharing :)


My husband and I are total hummus feinds but it is so expensive when you buy it in stores for this ity-bity tub that isn't that good- plus all the added junk they put in it. This recipe is sooo good (much better than any store bought kind) and sooo easy. I especially love that it doesn't require tahini because that too is expensive. (What can I say, I live on a budget). Anyway, thanks!


This is the yummiest hummus ever!  I love the dill and even a little extra.  I also added red pepper flakes because I was out of cayenne.


this is some great hummus. i used 1/4 cup of tahini and some chopped sundried tomatoes. i also had to add about a 1/4 cup of plain water (not bean water) to make it creamy. if you add water, just add a little at a time until you reach the right consistency...don't just dump it in at one time, because you could get runny hummus  :o
