Haluski
2 cups noodles
6 tablespoons vegan butter
4 tablespoons virgin olive oil
1 head cabbage, shredded
1 1/2 cups onions, sliced
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon paprika
salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste
1. Cook the noodles according to package instructions and drain. Heat a large pan on medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add butter/oil combo. When the butter and olive oil are hot, add cabbage and onions and saute for a few (about 5-10 minutes), then add garlic.
2. Turn down the heat to medium and cover the pan. Let this cook until the cabbage is soft, about 5 more minutes. Add more butter/oil combination as you need it.
3. Add the cooked noodles. Mix together with salt, pepper, and paprika.

SO HOW'D IT GO?
this was amazeballs. it totally met all three of my recipe criteria: frying, simplicity, and earth balance. i added a sprinkle or two of carraway seed and it was over the top. i left out the garlic because i forgot it. i used trader joes brown rice penne and the whole thing came together tremendously. i also cut the recipe in half because i was dining solo. it goes nicely with sierra nevada torpedo extra ipa, as well.
