Garbanzo Tacos
What you need:
2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans (1 can, drained)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) packet vegan taco seasoning
lettuce, shredded, to taste
6 large tortillas or 12 hard taco shells
tomatoes, chopped, to taste
onions, diced, to taste
salsa, to taste
What you do:
1. Dump both cans of beans into a skillet (but use the liquid from only one can). Dump in the taco seasoning.
2. Stir and let simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
3. Add beans and other ingredients to your tacos, burritos, and/or taco salads.
Especially good recipe for those who aren't crazy about the flavor of garbanzo beans. The seasoning takes over.

SO HOW'D IT GO?
Theses are absolutely delicious! I make these probably once a week, and always have like 6 of them! They're great :)
REALLY GOOD! I used the taco seasoning suggested by kingvegas although I did add some sea salt. Garbanzo beans are so versatile, and I've always had success with them in the past. Thanks for a great idea!
Ok, I just acquired a Cuisinart. I encourage everyone to get one as it will change your cooking life. They are amazing.
That being said I made this recipe again. I sauteed the garbanzo beans in the juice for about seven minutesm I then scooped the beans out of the pan leaving the juice. I put them into the food processor and pulsed them until they were somewhat smooth. I returned the bean paste to the liquid in the pan and stirred in the taco seasoning.
I am so amazed at how such a simple thing can have so much flavor. I also made my own salsa and guacamole to go along with it. I also had fresh tomatoes, onion, and romaine lettuce cut up. I served them on sprouted corn tortillas. A few dashes of Tapatio hot sauce totally kicked these in gear as well. I don't think Mexican Cuisine gets more healthy then this. It tasted amazing.

I can't believe it's just garbanzo beans. I wish I had known about this years ago.
Taco Taco Taco! :)>>>
these are so great! i sauteed a little red onion first, and i also added some crumbled tofu into the beans. i mashed it up with a potato masher, too, to make it easy to spread. i will definitely be making these often! so easy!
Surprisingly good. I would never have tried this if it hadn't been for all the good reviews. Strangely the garbanzos added an almost cheesy aftertaste to the taco. I used a low sodium taco mix. Next time I might try my own mixture of seasonings. Even unmashed, I couldn't tell these were garbanzo beans by the taste or texture. Yummy.
I make a very similar taco filling but I process the chickpeas in my food processor first, with the taco seasoning and some water or liquid from the can and then sautee them up. They are so yummy!
I am very surprised by the outcome of such a simple recipe.
I cooked the Garbanzo Beans for a while then mashed them with a potato masher and added the seasoning. I heated up Corn Tortillas and spooned the Taco filling in added diced tomatoes, diced onions, chopped romaine lettuce, some salsa and some Tapatio hot sauce on them and they were delicious.
They taste like tacos. This is totally going to go into my rotation. Taco Night is back on the Menu!
WOW! how easy and how delicious! my meat eating fiance ate four tacos! he usually uses only half of the taco seasoning packet on his meat to cut back on sodium, but the with the beans they definitely need the whole packet to get that taco-y taste. we mashed ours a little bit and they spread in our hard taco shells a little easier. added pineapple toppings, shredded rice cheese, lettuce and mild green pepper sauce. Definitely going to make this again! ;)b
Yummy recipe. Thanks.
Made this tonight for dinner, even my meat-eating fiance thought it was great! He calls it taco hummus. It just so happens he loves hummus (he would probably eat it with a spoon if I didn't hand him chips ) so this is a recipe that will definitely be going in our recipe binder. I cooked it with two cans of chickpeas, juice from one can and taco seasoning, and then added a can of vegetarian fat-free re-fried beans, four chopped hot peppers and mixed it all together into a kind of paste. Put black olives, tomatoes and lettuce on top, and it was delicious. Thank you so much for this awesome recipe!!!
